Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

Check your emails this weekend. Big flybuys offers in the wind. I'll report on mine later in the day. 4 week campaign similar to last time but they've made the terms and conditions better for some members.

My offer was spend $50 in one transaction for 4 specific weeks to get either a $50 discount on my flybuys card or 10,000 points (worth $50 flybuys dollars).

The transactions can be made instore or online. If you take the $50 discount it must be used in one transaction. If you take the 10,000 points it can be converted to flybuys dollars and used on as many transactions as you want. If you take the points they can be used as a payment method so you can earn points on the transactions in which you use the points. Points at the moment are being credited within 2-3 days of the original transaction.

I've chosen the points option as this will be easier and more flexible for me. Given that I'll have lots of Christmas present expenses, some of which will have to be spent long before Christmas, I should be able to qualify for this promotion easily.

The Coles server is working overtime today - so many graphic heavy emails so little time.

The weekly spend is probably only just doable with loading up on some non-perishables each week (poor Walk-in-Pantry!) unless there are some really good specials.

The timing of the spend is also interesting as it is a Monday to Sunday time frame - so across competing catalogues.

So far only 1 of 5 accounts has received this.

So $50 for $320 spend = 15.6% risk free after tax return. Add in discounted Gift cards and becomes 20.6% return with some 'weight lifting' required.

If any other accounts in our family get the offer then things could be 'cramped'. Glad the long life milk and toilet rolls have run down!

$80 per wk for the $50 return ... I wish.
Dam you Coles, I got the $180 per wk version.
No matter as I haven't been to Woolies for sometime they are now showing me the love with entry level requirements and all stacked ($50 for 750 bonus QF points, $5 off $45 meat & $5 off $30 fruit & veg - I used them all this wk and the savings came off instantly at the register)

So far the reward of $50 seems to be consistent. The last campaign had $50 or $100 reward depending on your spending habits. I try to get at least $10 per week from my transactions so this will be slightly higher at $12.50 per week. I've got coupons on top of this reward.

Remember cut your weekly spend by 25-30% of peak spend in subsequent weeks (still use FB card) then stop using FB card. Even if you are still spending same amount each week put it through as 2 orders on checkout (you may be shopping for someone else...). So only FB one component. Then you become a customer to value vs a steady loyal customer to ignore (or insult!).

$70 x 4 to get $50 or 10,000 points for me:

We've now stopped spending at Coles altogether and moved to Woolies as their offers have now all reset to entry level. So until New Year Woolies will get our business until Coles find us attractive again by dating someone else.

Both Coles and Woolies think they can forever increase the floor to trigger the weekly offer. Then when a loyal customer moves to the competition the offer to bring them back has to disproportionately large vs the spend.

I am exactly the reverse. I haven't shopped at Woolies for a couple of months or so as there have been no EDR offers worth worrying about.

$60 x 4 for me also.

Managed that today with a recharge voucher. Plus 500 bonus points (Telstra recharge > $30) and triple points for the shop of my choice.

Now I have to manage $60 for the next three weeks. I have been away for a month, so a bit of restocking will help reach the target (I hope).

I got a reminder email about my $50 x 4 offer and an extra offer of 75 bonus points for buying $5 litres of milk. That will be an easy 75 points. Will report back tomorrow on my total points yield on week 1 of the 4 week deal.

Nice. Can you buy a Telstra prepaid recharge voucher at a self-checkout? How long do the vouchers last?
