Flying with mask

Interesting. Have ordered a pack to try out. There seems to be lots of suspicious clones of these out there. Their KF94 masks also look interesting.
I have ordered (and received) these from Amazon. Yes, there are loads out there that look similar / dodgy and have all kinds of delivery delays or orders get cancelled. They're so good...I can't believe it's taken me this long to get some of this style.

They come in sizes too...big head here...ordered the large...and the fit is great. They are too large for my partner though...maybe medium would be suitable for many. Each one is individually wrapped and comes with a clip so you can, if you prefer, have the loops pass around the back of your head instead of the ears.

2 major differences from surgical masks - the main part sits away from your mouth and the fit around the outside of the masks is very close once you bend in the nose clip.

I bought the Queens direct. I'm now a little wary of buying masks from Amazon. I've bought masks from Amazon before but ikt seems that at least half of those on Amazon now seem to be counterfeit. One would think they would have some standards apart from making money, but hey, that's capitalism.

I recently purchased a box of P2 from PPE Tech who manufacturer in Sydney. They have Australian certification. Had to wait a short while as they were behind in stock but now caught up. They come in box of 25, 50, 100. Free shipping and box of 25 ~$60, 50 ~$100.

I called to check on stock at the time and they were very responsive. I find them very comfortable. Light weight, fold flat. My usual moulded P2s for work are valved so not suitable for covid.

Perhaps we should be wearing Clark MC-3s. I’d be happy, but probably not the rest of you.

Ok I'm going to take your word for it and order a pack to try. Thanks for the info!
Ordered the masks and they turned up today right at the same time the news came out masks are generally not required in most places now 😂 the irony.

I did buy them for airport/ airplane use which unfortunately is still required. I'd have much rather have wasted my money on them, then be required to wear them while travelling.

The service from Soomlab was really fast. Haven't actually used any masks yet so can't report on how they are yet.

There are a few airlines / countries that are currently requiring you to wear an FFP2 mask.
Depends on what your trip entails.
If you don’t need an FFP2 then the regular blue surgical masks are fine and very comfortable.

The best FFP2 one I have found in terms of comfort for sleeping and meeting specific compliance requirements is the Air Queen Breeze.
Can be purchased here :

PF, how do you find the sizing compared to your work N95s? ie I'm fit tested to a halyard or proshield small so wondering if I'd be the same in those.

They aren’t as snug fitting as any of the N95s. The Breeze version has a clip which joins the ear loops at the back of your head and that gives a decent snug fit. I think you’ll be ok if using a Proshield small.

I wouldn’t say they are anywhere close to equivalent to a fit-tested N95 but they are much more comfortable than them and a lot less flimsy than a surgical mask.

Thanks PF, I might grab some and try. I've got a couple N95s but the thought of wearing them for an entire flight is  ... probably a sign of a good fit!

Yep I agree. I took a bunch of 3M Auras to Europe that I bought. We wore them in London on the Tube, and Christmas shopping etc. I was fine but the minis wouldn’t stop complaining and couldn’t comprehend how I can wear them for 10 hour shifts 😆.

Do the airlines provides masks at all or is it strictly a BYO affair?

Assuming my flights go as planned I'll be with QF, BA, FI and JL in business in case that makes a difference.

QF yes - part of their complimentary packs which also include a bit of sanitiser

Forget the current boring masks. I recommend conspicuousness and get airline logo masks 🤣
I particularly like the aircraft nose view ones.
When are the airlines going to give specially “designed” ones for their esteemed FF?
Can be in the colour of their tier status
I would think that CLPO are so esteemed and holy that they don’t need to wear masks.
Whereas Y-minus passengers like the JQ ones on the other hand should be in full PPE like the picture above???

Photo sent by a friend.
I should have added that such PPE does not ease any restrictions when visiting WA.
