Re: Struck Gold : Comped

With 5-6 years as a SG and with an average over that time of 750 sc always gave you a chance of a comp. They would also have looked at the revenue when deciding.

However the one caution I give you is wait a few days to ensure this is a real comp instead of system waiting to see if there are any late flights to get you back to SG, which at 200 SCs is virtually nil but there is a definite system rule here and I thought I was comped one year but three days later it disappeaed. :(

Whoops maybe getting excited too early ........

Re: Struck Gold : Comped

A few years ago myself and Mrs Nick were both due to be downgraded from SG as at 30 June. I had done the most flying that year but still well short. Mine changed on 1 July and hers didn't. After a couple of weeks, started believing she may have been comped, I think it was around the 18th that they adjusted her status down which was in the circumstances very deflating.

Still, should be back up there in a couple of weeks, maybe this time will be able to maintain it

Re: Struck Gold : Comped

points balance is irrelevant, and you probably want to mask those PNR's.....

Re: Struck Gold : Comped

oz_mark where would I find this ? Would it be sent to my email address ?
If you go into your ff account the panel that has your status and anniversary date should have a message saying congratulations you have retained Gold or something like that, if you have been comped (or legitimately retained it). That's what mine had last year when I was comped Platinum. If you didn't get a message like that, then unfortunately I think it is just giving you a few days in case some flights come in, before adjusting your status. Hope I am wrong :)

Re: Struck Gold : Comped

As I noted in the thread I linked to in post #6, QFF tend to keep status up for 4 days to a week into the next month before downgrading (soft landing).

Re: Struck Gold : Comped

Yes it appears my experienced friends were correct. Back to QC PS account changed over last night. Rookie error ....... bugger! Thanks for the heads up at least I half expected it after reading comments.

Sorry to hear after qualifying for 5 years reasonable to think you had a Como change (but no expectation). Dropping SG to PS hurts (I've done it). But it appears you have QC access at least.

Sorry to hear. Your loyalty deserved it.

Thanks Pushka I was kind of hoping so. I was actually motivated to re-qualify on the strength of a comp year. Not so sure now although it appears to severely reduce the number of award seats you can look at. Gold does seem to be the sweet spot for people who can't rack up company paid flights.

Yep, sorry to hear.

Gold certainly is the sweet spot for QF FF.

I had similar hopes last year but not to be. I made sure of it this year. Watch out for those DSC offers.

Re: Struck Gold : Comped

Sorry craven to hear it didn't come through. Out of interest, if you had 200 SCs this past year what was the SCs for the prior two years? I'm wondering if the average was greater or less than 600 for these years as you mentioned your average over 5 years only.

Yes it is...although recently a family checking in at MNL was able to skip an incredibly long line to use J check in on lowly PS. It made me smile on what a score that was...saved them 45 mins easily! Still some minute benefits if you can manage to use them!

Average for the 2 years prior to a lowly 200SC year was 650 so it was tapering down a little

That sounds like a good score !!

Re: Struck Gold : Comped

Perhaps the thread title should be changed to reflect that there wasn't a comp?
