For those who have been comped status

Due to less work travel and access to ID travel with another airline* last year I will fall well short of 1200 SCs this membership year.
However my totals for 2014 and 2015 were 2470 and 1280 respectively.
Currently on 380 SCs and (2470+1280+380)/3 = 1376 average for the 3 years.
A quick trip to Adelaide over the weekend has satisfied the 4 QF sectors requirement for this membership year.
Year ends on 30 September so I am hoping this was just in time for the comp fairy to wave their wand in my direction at the end of this month.
If not, a holiday to Noumea will net another 320 SCs and make sure I retain Gold at least.

Please send me good luck!

*Ironically the family member who qualifies for the ID travel now flies with QF!

Well it's the 2nd of September and no visit from the comp fairy.
I'm a bit pessimistic.

Yep. You would see the Congrats notice by now. Just waiting for final credits to post. Tomorrow I think is d day. Oh - 30 Sept? Still plenty of time.

Same here.

Nothing showing "status wise" in my profile, just the usual "to keep Platinum" incentive that remains for a time after rollover in case there are stray SCs to come in.

I'm resigned to having to say "Goodbye Elizabeth, Hello Maria"+ in Melbourne!!

Other things to get my head around:
* Using the correct door in Sydney for Lounge
* Not walking in a direct line through the Melbourne QC
* Digging in to my stock of express passes
* Waiting to select my favourite exit row seat

Everything else will be pretty much the same, at least for the next 12 months.

"Circle of Life" anyone??

Regards,

BD

I have done that and it is painful walking past the QF First doors at SYD T1. I plan to just go to the EK lounge now avoiding walking anywhere near the First Lounge and the Business Lounge in T1 is not worth the pain or the effort after knowing the haven that is the First Lounge.
The difference in the domestic lounges is less so the adjustment will be easier, as long as you can get a seat in the QP or do not go to PER.

I have just logged into my 17yo son's ff account and seen a pop up message saying congratulations you have retained gold...
His year doesn't end until March 2017, he only has 40 status credits and 2 qantas flights and has only been gold for one year. Is this a computer glitch or is he one lucky teenager being given gold for another year. (sadly gold is wasted on him as if he flys by himself he is too young to enter lounges and gets turned away despite his gold card ;))

We got our comps on the 11 th August for an end of August membership. Your average looked good, so fingers crossed.

Thanks, that's good to know.
I was concerned because most people seemed to receive their comp at the end of the month prior to the end of their membership year.
By the end of my year on September 30th my averages will be (2470+1280+700)/3 = 1483 average for the 3 years.
So my fingers are all still crossed!
I really don't want to lose access to a certain lounge in HKG!

Most of my comps have occurred more 10-15th of the month expiring (allows them to get cards out before they expire)

I've had 2-3 comps over 22 years with QF and IME it comes about 1-2 weeks before year expiry. If I've cared about my status enough, I've done the SCs to renew it and have only been comped as a nice surprise when I had resigned myself to losing it.

Most? How many have you had? :)
I have had 3 comps in the past 9 years. Each time was comped when I did not have Platinum status locked in by beginning of May with end May expiry.

Made Platinum each time before end of May anyway.

This happened to me last year - comped SG at beginning of December (dec expiry) just days after booking a GK sector to bring me across the line

Received my first ever comp this afternoon (in 15 years on QF) by retaining WP on a three year average basis.

My current total for the year is 140 SC but I will hit a massive 180SC by my year end on 30 September 2016 (my lowest year end SC total ever).

I will now be able to hit the 10 years continuous WP or higher mark in February 2017 (7.6 years WP and 2.4 years P1).

I have heard this before too but are we certain that's the case.

Well I was comped last year but subsequently earned the SCs to requalify.
And I was just comped today.
So it seems fairly certain.

.

That's impressive!!

I was rejected for a comp on 210SC this year although had limped over the line the last couple of years - so a direct 3yr average would have been under 1200, even with a letter and a lot of travel in the following month (already at 600)

I was comped last year, but made it by myself and the same this year, so I hope that's correct!

Yes it is absolutely certain that this is the case. This is not being comp-ed (ie. being renewed with fewer SC's than required for the whole year), it is just early renewal, in the end no different from normal requalification.
