Free flight for those disrupted.

The FAQ says:
"Q I had a Premium Economy, Business or First class seat on the disrupted flight, is my free flight an equivalent class seat?
A Your complimentary flights are only available in Economy class. We will be in contact with you soon about other benefits we’ll be giving our eligible Premium Economy, Business and First class customers who were disrupted by the grounding."

I look forward to hearing about any "other benefits".

I had a J class BNE - SYD - CGK booked for 31/10/11. I do everything that I can to avoid travelling in Y and only do so if I absolutely have to - i.e. short-haul domestic flights for work such as BNE to SYD. I doubt that I will use the free flight (given it is not upgradeable) and the FAQs say that you can't transfer the free flight to someone else. I might just have to suck it up and fly Y - it would be a slight waste not to... I'll just need to find a quiet flight on a 767 with plenty of free space...

also looking forward to this. I was sitting in 3A when i was ejected from the plane at about 5:15pm on the 29th

A very generous offer from Qantas. I now wish I was disrupted that weekend as free flights towards a holiday would have been greatly appreciated.

Whats that saying, a little pain - for a lot of pleasure

This might be a stupid question, but I assumed that the whole "travel that originated in Australia" meant the whole ticket and not just the leg that was cancelled, however I am yet to get an email.

Has anyone who was impacted overseas but had a return ticket issued in Australia received an email?

Nothing here neither me or my dad. We are based in Germany and got stuck in SIN on QF9.

My wife (PG) got the 50% more miles mail. But Dad (PS) and me did get nothing.
I still have a delayed luggage claim, but I am patient as customer service must be very busy at the moment.

I have an email this evening stating:

We were grounded in Honolulu (there could be worse places!). Ticket was issued in Australia, this was our return flight.

I didn't get an email, so I filled in the form on the website once it was available. I received the free flight email on Friday evening.

Now to work out where to go!

Welcome Natalie_B! Like many here (myself included!) we have the tough decision on where to go!

Should I have received an email with some sort of voucher for this free flight yet?

Do you guys have anything?

Did you get an initial email offering you the free flight?

If yes you should have the details. If not (like me) there is a pro forma on the QF web site to fill in. They then assess your claim and send out the approval with some detail. (Mine took one week)

I never did get the 'gift' that Red Roo mentioned and he was not any help when I PM'd him about it. I have not followed this part up any further yet.

I double checked my email about this last weekend. It said that flight could be booked from 30 November and instruction would be sent shortly before then. So I'm guessing this weekend or early next week.

Just got an email from Qantas with details of how to book the free flight. If I had any IT skills I'd paste a copy of it for all - I'm sure someone else will be able to .

I went through the booking process and it seems fairly straightforward - follow the links to the booking engine and pick your flights.

Tried redeeming PER-MEL return for December, Jan weekends.

No availability. What a surprise.

l see lots of flights available in my choice - nz.

i like the no cost radio button :)

I just got the email with voucher code for the free flight. When I go to click on the booking link it takes me to the Qantas website but just displays "Generic Error". It says or visit qantas.com/flywithus but I see no way of entering a voucher code or surname. Am I missing something obvious?

OK never mind - I've got the e-mail, but how do I book? The link is garbled and the page (www.qantas.com/flywithus) doesn't have an option to enter the voucher...

Edit: Right, need to click on Gift Vouchers.

Received mine. Also received earlier today an email from a marketing company asking on QF's behalf what I thought of the Qantas frequent flyer.

Coincidence?
