Further Status Extension to 28 Feb 2023

Well I’m not happy and will be making a call tomorrow. Seems I have been punished rather than rewarded.
My original review date was March 31st 2022 and I had already reached requalification back in August and had gifted a Platinum since and was well over half way to attempt another Platinum gift and with the flights I still have before the end of March I would have made it comfortably.
So with this “enhancement“ I have not only lost a month of my Platinum membership but have lost 620SC’s
Definitely discuss that with them….you shouldn’t go backwards!!

Sounds like a simple computer applied change that needed oversight in your case.

GL!

Because I had plans to gift another Platinum and my original review date was not for another month
Sorry my bad, I understand now. They will definitely sort this out for you if you call them, I'm sure they hadn't factored in certain edge cases

Yeah ok I get your story, it's like they assumed everybody wouldn't achieve their status requirements & in doing so ignored all that did with a later all in review date.

How odd & rather poor, took a leaf from QF book.

Yeah you def at this point did lose 620SC's, but yeah a phone call with under a minute wait time will sort it out. I can't imagine them not clearing your end of March review date & reinstating SC's. The premium team should have authority do revert it all.

Keep us posted. Thanks.

My extension has arrived, now Plat til Feb 28th 2023
Yes, I noticed logging into my Velocity account today. There are some SC earning opportunities until the end of the month with the bonus offer on both paid and redemption fares.

I had somewhat hoped to have comms from them today, with a new offer of some sort.

Wasn't to be..

Has anyone else noticed that any Platinum business upgrades due to expire on 1st April 2022 have now been wiped at the same time as the 4 new ones credited for expiry 1st March 2023?
Yep. Didn’t get time to call up today but will ask them about it tomorrow aswell

Hmm, just logged in and checked and yeah, the April 1st ones have been zeroed out for me as well.

I had a review date of 31/03/22 and had already enough SC's to requal Gold (just needed two sectors which will be happening this weekend), but found that they had been wiped as of 28/02/22. Called yesterday and wasn't given a straight answer as to why, but was told that because by status had been extended until 28/02/2023 I didn't need to requal myself. So if I had requalified myself the date wouldn't have changed.

So in essence you lose a month.
Your review date should be 31/03/23.

These free status extensions are great by all airlines, there are some who requalify on their own still actually lose out.

I wanted to get the forum's thoughts on this: I am gold status and earned the majority of my SC previously through flights. As I've been in lockdown in Melbs since 2020, I've not taken any flights (though I've booked and had to cancel plenty).

During lockdown, I relied on my grocery shopping to top up my SC every so often.

Now that we're out of lockdown and I'm finally triple vaxxed, I feel safe to resume my frequent flying with Virgin, however my review date is 31 May 2022. I'm glad that Virgin extended the review dates over the pandemic but (for my budget and schedule) trying to earn 291 SC in just a couple of months feels unfair. I've already booked 2 flights for this month.

Usually, I would have had a full year to re-qualify for my status. Does anyone think I have a leg to stand on if I call Virgin to discuss an extension?

If you got the extensions, aren't you going to have 28th Feb 2023 review date now?

Keen to know how you go, there's no way I will re-qualify given my date in July, will instead probably end up flying QF with my recently extended-until-september-2023 gold.

It's worth a go.

You do seem to fall outside of the current Status extensions (see link below)

But if they are handing out 8 months to everyone else who has not flown then why not you too!

Cheers
