Further Status Extension to 28 Feb 2023

Again I hope my guess this was Virgin using the COVID uncertain mess to drag all Elite year levels to a common date as 100s of million of USA Airlines and Hotel pan members have been used to for 40 years.

East to understand, and easy to follow

EARN all of 2022 to December 31, and that status good for a grace 2 or 3 month period into next year. Simple.

Earn 1005 SC before December 31 and you are Plat to March 2024.
Yes we understand your position well, it has been highlighted enough times.

VAs rolling status is an inherent feature of the program and it isn’t changing otherwise they would have done it for brand new golds and platinums earning right now, but they haven’t done so.

Ample flying opportunities now.
VA has great value flights, as best value as I've ever seen. $65 mel-ool, can't get that price to syd. Thanks to the gov half price deal & thanks to Rexy competition.

I took advantage of the VA DSC offer some months back & will jump upto WP in Feb. So status extension not relevant to me.

Has anyone who only received the 8 month extension had their account reviewed yet.
Reason I ask is my partner got the 8 month extension and she has earned around 600 sc's in the last 3 months. I gather these will be added to what she earns in the next 8 months as her account is now under review to help her reach the 800 needed by september.
I am only used to the 12 month review date when all the sc's dropped off from the previous year.

Mine still says review date of 31st January 2022 but on a phone call kindly coordinated with @Matt_01 they did say they were going to extend it 8 months

Actually I've been meaning to follow up on this.. my review date is 1 Apr 2022, I know the 8-month extension is not approved until the review date but do wish some type of indication were available in the Velocity website.

Do I trust the email, or should I make sure I have enough SC before then... just in case? I would be willing to shell out for a J to LAX - if only they resumed these flights. I wonder if the long-haul pods still exist in the aircraft, or if they've been dismantled during covid?

The review after 8 months should take into account the full 12 month lifetime of status credits and eligible sectors.

That is my thought and how you would expect it to work. I would call them but its my partners account who if you asked her what a status credit was would give you a look like who cares.

I really hope the status credits earned between 30th September and 1st April 2022 (next extension date) are not reset to zero, otherwise it was pointless flying VA between this period. The status credit should still have a 12 month validity or be rolled over. Right?

They don't rollover as such. Under the velocity T&C's they will look at your 12 month activity at then next review.

I had the extension to Mrch 31st with promised subsequent extension to Feb 28th 2023.

For me, any SC's earned in March 2022 would be included in the review initiated Feb 28th, 2023 (see post #1).

Any SC earned on or before 28th Feb 2022 would not be included in my Feb 28th 2023 Review.

I actually had a Business class flight last month which I credited to SQ KrisFlyer rather than Velocity for that reason.

Ah, boo I didn't think of this ;-(

I have earned 500 status credits between Oct 21 and now, really disappointing. Probably should have flown Qantas during this period instead given they don't count. Seems rather silly they would do this, it pulls revenue streams away from them.

If you're.on an 8 month extension, the four months before the extension count. Wherever the case, they always look back 12 months at the review date

This makes sense and they just move your review date forward 8 months but until the account shows this I will be waiting impatiently. I would have thought they would just add 8 months straight away instead of the account showing under review.

Thanks @Matt_01

Are sc's earn't in the last 4 months showing as counting towards your 800 needed to keep Platinum in 8 months.

I spoke to Velocity today, I was informed that anything I earned since the 1st October and 28th February wouldn’t count. I wish I didn’t fly VA between this period.

Why? Think of the Velocity points, areas that's something. (I know I credited a flight to Krisflyer but the points were needed for an award.)

There are still extra SC to be earned for March travel that would count for a 28th Feb 2023 review date.

E.g MEL to/from BNE/OOLcan be booked in business for$299 one way and earn 115 SC.

If only there was some sort of way of recognising long term - even lifetime - loyalty to an airline.

Actually I am not that annoyed if that's the case. With a flight this weekend my partner would have been around 750sc's but knowing she will lose 500 earn't since november now I will save me some money and not bother with her platinum. Funny thing is if she doesn't have to fly anytime soon she won't care about the money I wasted.

Plus I still have my Platinum till next year so will service the car and do some travel around NSW for the rest of the year. Looking forward to visiting Dubbo zoo and going back to Bathurst.
