There is, however, no substitution for an accurate optometrists scrip and glasses made by an online operation like ausspecs

The current plan is to try stop the virus as much as possible, slow it down, so that hospitals can cope with the number of acute care patients. Let the virus was through the population in a slow controlled manner. With the thinking that a herd immunity would then protect for future returns. So what would happen if a state in SA, lets say Tas or SA was very successful in stopping the virus, and positives reduced to single digits. Then the concept of herd immunity evaporates. What happens then?

The other insight with SA figures is there appears to be several clusters in regional SA (Swiss & USA tourists on wine tours Barossa & Coonawarra)... plus a brace of cruise ship cases (30-50) Plus a raft of international travellers.

You are correct it does not take GST into account in determining the amount, it is based on income tax payments withheld.

However the credit can be applied to GST payable amounts.

The are some examples in the link I posted but here's another one.

An eligible SME with 2 employees submits a quarterly BAS on April 28th comprised of $2,900 PAYG income tax withheld and $2,500 for GST. They would ordinarily need to pay $5,400. However since the assistance based on withheld tax amounts would be less than $10,000, the minimum $10,000 credit occurs.

Once that is applied the general account would be $4,600 in credit with nothing further payable.

I guess they didn't want inactive entities to come swooping in. Of course many SME's would wait until nearer May 15th before lodging annual returns. The latter appears to mean "lodged a BAS between July last year and March 12th".

• derived business income in the 2018–19 income year and lodged your 2019 tax return on or before 12 March 2020
• made GST taxable, GST-free or input-taxed sales in a previous tax period (since 1 July 2018) and lodged the relevant activity statement on or before 12 March 2020.

For a moment there I didn't see "either". We have lodged our annual return but may have come close to that date. Refund received 21st March. But of course we have done the BAS 2 due end of Feb.

Very disappointing for some people who were bussed to the Intercontinental in Sydney but weren’t able to get in and so were sent off to the Ibis.
And another hotel had a fire alarm so they all had to go down the fire stairs and stand out in the street.

Why?

We really don't need family groups of 4-6 with kids running around supermarkets as if everything is "normal". Not only does it make social distancing arrangements much harder, it also creates problems when the supermarkets go to limiting the amount of people in the stores at a time.
