Marriott employees will receive the equivalent of four hours of pay upon getting vaccinated."
My first, sad, cynical thought was "+ Tips?"

However, it is a move in the right direction even if in some states it'll cost Marriot as little as US$29 per employee.

Is it ok to 😂🤭. Only at your comment. I heard the second one is more so as well.
We'll see I guess. She hasn't felt well at all tonight so went to bed early.

Gotta love the US, there's always a catch. Lots of non believers/anti establishment so unfortunately that's what they need to do.

With the current discussion about Italy and France banning exports of vaccines, somehow our very "special friend", the USA seems to have missed out on our scorn. I read they are not even exporting to Canada.
Moral of the story: there is no such things as friends. You can only really depend on yourself. I hope we wake up to that instead of thinking the US will rush to our aid in event of need.

What exactly do you expect USA to do regardless of who is President?. We haven't signed any contracts with them. And this is why AZ is being manufactured locally now.

Italy I can understand. I'd have expected France to behave better though. Maybe this is the result of leaders here saying we are under control and not in a crisis situation.

So AA giving employees who get vaccinated an extra day on their holidays.
My employer is doing that also, get vaccinated you get an extra day off to take at a time of your choosing. Applied globally (except a couple of countries due to local laws). I think it has been quite favorably received, although less exciting if you're struggling to find a decent use for annual leave due to travel restrictions anyway (and you can't accrue annual leave either, such that you can only carry forward a limited amount each year).

Yes, that's fine, but how do you actually get vaccinated? Isn't that the problem?

Assuming the vaccine is actually available in the country and can get it (i.e. in the right group), those in roles that don't require physical presence at a work place, the company is flexible around arrangements and for those in rostered roles, the local management have been asked to coordinate with employees.

To be expected, EU ballsed things up re: vaccines so now they're in recovery mode.

Just like the UK, for permies anyway. Mrs FB can only carry forward 10 days.

Just that the USA is as selfish, if not more than everyone else.
Blanket ban on all vaccine exports.
Where is the condemnation?

There were no agreements made with the US so no contractual obligations.

Which came first (I genuinely don’t know) .... was it that there was a ban therefore no Pharma company could allocate production foe foreign markets to the US? Or just that Pharma companies in the first place didn’t seek to produce in the US for export?

Nasty selfish USA, our dearest friend.

Brought to us by Deutsche Welle, that European propagandist great friend of America. 😊

Germany is no shining light for anything to do with COVID-19 handling.

Bring this back to Australia, did anyone in the German government or its reps to the European commission object to it’s banning of Pfizer vaccine exports to Australia by Italy/the EU?

Mine is 8 days and must be used within the following calendar year. That is relatively generous, previous employers have all been 5 days and must be used by March 31.

Many Germans are refus8ng to take the AZ vaccines they have available, demanding Pfizer or Moderna instead. The EU blocking exports of AZ is hypocritical given many EU contries wont allow it to be used in over 65s, maybe should redistribute the AZ doses that Germany are refusing to use?

But does it matter? There are other ways US will provide aid.
