General Medical issues thread

It hasn't been fun but could have been worse.

I still remember my first hospital visit with severe infection when I was 23. Then a couple of years later had pneumonia. Doctors at the time didn't realise these were related to my condition.
That pneumonia comment is interesting. That is exactly what they think was a trigger in my niece's case!

Previous cruise in April...and she didn't tell me :)

I dont think I even realised until part way through  Take so many damn tablets and is probably why I was feeling the cold so much. I have avoided the requested thyroid function test as I know what the test will show and am avoiding any angst......but at least I dont get hot flushes at the moment. But have lost some of my eyebrow (outer edge) and it isnt as though I could afford to lose much eyebrow anyway. At least they never needed plucking....

No, it was 18! (but only for sleep at night). I bumped it up doing the day and then went you went white at the extremities I moved it to 23 all the time. Well that's my recollection anyway. :)
18 degrees at night? There wouldn't be any moving parts in my body in the morning. Bad enough with the setting on 26!

I have encouraged our work staff to watch the Vinnie Jones CPR video to get them realizing it is straight forward. We have had 3 staff have heart attacks in the last 5 years so I thought it was a good time for a quick session.

Real interaction today..

Patient: i cant believe the emergency department is an overcrowded zoo!!!
Me: why not?
Patient: the hospital is new
Me: well it's a new zoo!.
Patient: The government promised it would be better
Me: well it is, it's a new zoo!.

On a lighter note, I have new 'ears' so my hearing should be somewhat improved :)
What? ;)

My parents have had damaged hearing for over 20 years. Dad struggles to hear on the pbone and if I'm not shouting he can't hear at all so gets mum to answer phone. Over the past few months I'm hearing more "What did you say?" from mum during a single phone call.

Actually very sad but not much we can do.
