Also add to the list the Rear of any form of transportation except for trains.

The rear of airplanes move about the axis of travel a lot more than the front The most stable part would be wings and forward. The problem is that those seats are pricey.

I actually thought the ship was going to sink. It could be triple hulled, and I would not have cared.
Mrs QS teased me something horrendous the entire journey.

Im surprised it is still in business and never sunk since the Wahine in the 1960s. Though it came close to capsizing in 2006 where the Ferry heeled to 50 deg (as in a sustained roll). Our crossing was in 2001

Mine goes back to the mid 80s! Apparently it was a trip where the roll bars earned their keep!

(My father was supposed to be on the Wahine but at the last minute, travelled the day before so he could be home for his birthday - being the 10th).

I once took Travacalm before a helicopter flight in the hopes of avoiding airsickness. Which worked.

The problem was I felt a little odd before I got in but the minute the f-ing thing left the ground I instead suffered white-knuckle terror, tears, and an insane desire to exit the craft. My husband (of one week at the time) tried to put a comforting arm around me and I snarled at him "DON'T TOUCH ME! YOU PUT ME IN THIS DEATH MACHINE!!!"

It was years before I recovered enough to try a helicopter again - this time without drugs and with a very sympathetic pilot who promised to put me down straight away if I went nuts again. No problem, wonderful trip. Must have been the drugs. I wonder if it's like when some parents dose their child on phenergan in the hopes of a quiet flight and instead get a screaming hellion who can't be comforted. I've heard it happens.

Anyway, now I'm a big girl, I take Xanax if I think I'm going to freak out (prop planes, mostly). It works a treat. I just stop caring if I'm going to die or not.

An update re my great nephew. It seems he has seizure syndrome and chiari. Thankfully the finding of Chiari was incidental; at this stage it needs regular monitoring but they think they can manage. The seizure syndrome needs treatment but he may grow out of it. Thankfully a much better outcome than expected. Just phew.

That's very good news all round (despite the seizures but hope there as well).

Hmmm, not good news, the fracture in the finger bone has has become displaced(?), so it's surgery time to pin it, at this stage Thursday morning, hopefully this won't affect her trip back to vancouver.....

Not good news. When is her trip?

Oh no, that's not good news. Finger bones can be a bit tricky to pin so they end up straight. Thinking of her, hopefully not hugely painful, although I'm sure it will throb for a while.

That’s not what you ( or more to the point, she) would’ve wanted to hear. Hope it goes well.

Thanks everyone, she goes to Sydney on Sunday 6th, then JAL to Vancover via Narita Monday morning.
Fingers crossed ..... although maybe that’s not going to work here.

I’m so mindful of injuring myself prior to a trip. I ruptured a disc doing a heavy duty pre travel clean when I was 32 and holiday cancelled as the neurosurgeon said I’d end up in a wheelchair permanently if I flew on the long flight. He operated on me instead.

As I’m currently doing heavy duty stuff like tiling I’ve decided to stop after this weekend just in case.

And how is the tiling going? Are you doing walls or floor or everything? Its not rocket science, just needs some thought in the planning so you don't end up with a small part tile at the end of a row. I originally used a 4 foot level to get tiles horizontal but then found a vertical plumb line was better when I completely tiled all four walls of our ensuite.

Oh wow. That’s impressive. Tiling almost done but have to do the round bits and file down a door. It’s a haphazard make over really as the original laundry used to be an outside one! It’s an old house :o It will look a million times better though. I do like grouting. It makes everything come together. And back is holding up fine as long as I heat pack it after a hard day.

Far more patience and skill than me! I have trouble with the concept of measure twice, cut once! sorry, off topic.

Dropped Erika off at 6:30 this morning, she called me at 16:15 to say 'come get me'. After fasting and waiting most of the day, they were about to wheel he in and they looked at the x-rays again, and decided not to pin it.
So taken back down to fracture/plastic clinic and a brace was custom made.
So all in all a bit of a pain, but she is happy because she didn't end up having an anesthetic, which is always a good thing!

What a PITA, being there ultra early and fasting all day however as she says no anaesthetic is a bonus. Just have to hope it works ok. Our regards to her.

And better for her travels I’d think.

Apart from all the pfaffing around, that is a probably better outcome than the surgery. Hope it heals quickly E.

Does anyone know if the flu vaccines in NZ and Australia are the same
