General Medical issues thread

That sounds like it would be painful, ouch.
Hope results are good.

:shock::shock:

It shouldn't be if done properly. Hopefully results are positive.

Actually the results should preferably be negative:lol:

Having never had one but read about them, the laughing gas was an unexpected bonus as I expected not to be that lucky. I did feel like I tripped big time though, and was told by chicka afterwards that one of the nurses commented they'd never seen someone inhale so much gas before! :p

Ultimately, the local stung, as it does, but that moment when the needle hits the bone/marrow, it's like hitting your elbow/funny bone and having the shooting pains down your arm (though in this case your leg).

I couldn't tell what was happening exactly when thanks to the gas, but certainly didn't feel much. I did feel the drawing of marrow... that was such a weird feeling, and I did feel the corkscrew like device attempting to take a bone sample.

I don't know which felt worse though, the initial moment of needle hitting bone or the feeling of the bone fragment coming loose after the corkscrew-like feeling (which itself was just weird and not painful).

Results Wednesday week.

I hope the results are negative too Sam.

I'm in two minds to be honest. Yes, I don't want to be sick, but I also want to know what's up with all my blood counts and that sort of stuff that mean I've had to be jabbed with a needle more often than necessary :p

Its all about having answers, isn't it. Then deal with come what may.

Happy to give the Olds a break but I would expect ID via a seniors card at least. to know whether said person has qualified as an "OLD"

I imagine cove's parents are quote elderly, and probably have a parking permit.

I park in a disabled spot when transporting infirm family members, but always use a regular spot if it's just me (even if I have the permit with me). Basic courtesy IMHO.

All the best samh004. I hope the results are negative.

I agree "not knowing" can lead to a lot of anxiety, so getting a diagnosis may be good, but hopefully any diagnosis is for something minor and/or treatable.

Actually the bone marrow biopsy needles are straight but inserted in a corkscrew method as the tip has a cutting edge that work with a screw motion. Once the needle is in place the stylet inside the needle is removed leaving a hollow needle through which marrow is suctioned up by negative pressure of a syringe connected to the ithe end of the biopsy needle.

Several repositioned of the biopsy needles are required sometimes.

Yes, I meant to say it felt like a corkscrew... but then of course, I was tripping :p

They did say they had some trouble grabbing the bone at the end for the biopsy as "young peoples bone is a lot stronger" so I had to go through that process a few times before they were happy.

Ultimately, they thought a piece of bone may have broken off but not been scooped up, as there appeared to be a lump on my back. I've been assured this will re-absorb if this is the case, but could lead to more bruising.

Starting to feel the area again, so time for some codeine and bed!

Yes penegal Mrscove has both her parents who are 93 and 90 and they live at their home which is close to the city. What has changed is their social engagements now are more medical appointments.Family help them to go out shopping mostly once a week at Coles and the lotto shop. They were married the year I was born so that would be 67 years ago this year. Instead of going to the movies now they have mastered Foxtel and they have a KISA mobile phone with 10 numbers on it for emergencies as well as a fixed phone line.

Mum thinks her first physio session for her knee went well. Half an hour of electrical simulation and half an hour on the exercise machine.

A 24 gym opened up recently next to our local WW. Of course all the meat heads are parking in the disabled parking spots. One spot was left out of 5 and the remaining spot was a tight squeeze because the driver of the too fast, too furious car doesn't know how to park within the generous disabled spot.

I checked the other 4 vehicles and not one disabled permit. Get back from shopping, a new guy has parked with no permit, but the douche bag of the night of goes to the guy who parked in the disabled spot with a permit by himself and then went directly into the gym for a workout session... Seriously if your using someone else's permit to park closer to workout, you can park 50-100m further out and get some extra cardio.

Contacting council for enforcement is an effective approach to this.

Still feel like carp! If anything the cold is worse today than yesterday. Have only just vacated the bed (and that is very unusual for me). Guess I'm just not used to being sick and so it feels worse that it really is :( After all it's just a cold!

I'll pronounce my ill feelings in advance as a (likely) 35 year-old crown had a tooth disintegrate under it and will be removed later today...

Interesting how much implant technology has changed in a few years. Now apparently scan and computer driven. And the first world tech does not come cheaply. Note: My other implant was done in Sri Lanka.

Happy wandering

Fred

I know what you mean - nothing worse than having something wrong, but no one can work out what. Hope all goes well for you.

Hoping to get some feedback from people with knowledge of the USA medical system. Master FM sprained his ankle a few weeks ago. He had splint on it and had crutches. I think the splint came off, but he managed to fall again and hurt his leg as well. Details are very sketchy as I am not getting much out of him. Anyway he now has a boot on for the next month. He has been going to the emergency department at his local hospital. Is this good enough? Should he be finding a doctor and getting it checked out? In Australia emergency would be fine, but just not sure how it all works in the states?

he is in San Francisco if that makes any difference.
