General Medical issues thread

I'm starting to feel worn down by a collection of random symptoms.

This morning it was an insanely itchy shoulder following a massage yesterday, along with itchy scalp which had me resorting to cortisone.

Tonight it is tingly lips, heavy lower legs and a cold feeling around my ankles (but normal to touch).

Awaiting appointment for further tests.

I just want to be feeling 'normal' again :(

have a beer..it is amazing that I fell normal again just after one beer...after two beers I feel like a different person... after three, I am socially different to the person who has had only two, but not so far away from them...after four, it is amazing. Try it some day to alleviate the issues of de day !

Sadly I have to pull the laptop out in a moment and do some work - for which I need to be on the ball to do. That means the gin stays in the bottle tonight :(

Funny thing, when I'm feeling ill, thoughts of alcohol zoom straight out the door.

For me it depends what it is. Nothing better for a cold or flu than a hot toddie made by hubby.

Wife not well. Kidneys sore the past few days. Hoping she goes to see doctor tomorrow.

Amen to that! I missed out on the whole pisco sour thing as a result. Oh well!

Especially so when your symptoms are like a hangover but without the benefit of having been drinking the night before

I know what you mean - nothing worse than having something wrong, but no one can work out what. Hope all goes well for you.

I honestly can not believe how much better I feel since I had the 'root canal' done and got rid of that nasty low grade infection, I've almost been bouncing off walls and have accomplished so much in the last couple of weeks compared to how little I seemed to have done over the last couple of months (years?). Hope it continues.

And I likewise can't believe the difference 6 weeks worth of plaquenil (lupus meds) has made. Painted the back loo and laundry this week and cleaned out an entire lounge room ready for carpet replacement and painting. Previously I got tuckered out just doing the basic of domestic tasks.

I think my Dad needs new hearing aids.

When I got home, I asked whether mum got home. He said I think she is still at Chemotherapy... Problem is she was at Physiotherapy...

He got free hearing aids like 20 years ago because of noisy workplaces. Can he get a new pair?

sorry to hear that - she should not neglect herself given all she has gone through.
She is depressed. Has had enough without saying too much more. I am scared. Doctor not in today but will be there tomorrow. Don't want her to spend any nights in hospital as I'm not sure what harm it will cause her.

Spoke to her a few minutes ago. Still in a lot of pain. Baby crying so didn't talk long. I'll be with them in 5 hours.

I am glad you will be with her soon - make sure you get professional help, as post natal depression is not uncommon. Best wishes.

Not post natal depression that worries me. Her kidneys hurt a lot. The stent was put in 3 weeks ago and we're still having issues. The doctors here spend very little time with their patients.

Not a comment at all on JohnK's wife but I frequently see patients present with pain after ureteric stent.
3 weeks later? This has me stumped.

We'll go to hospital in the morning but I don't want to turn this trip into another nightmare. I really want wife and daughter in Australia on 18 November and that's not going to happen unless I get tourist visa for daughter this week. Otherwise I'd have to purchase new airfares to come back next week. And I am seriously tired.

I think 3 months with my parents and wife will feel better.

Yes. Feel sorry for JohnK having to sort this out interceptions transcontinentally. Generally Pain that cause worry = seek advice.

Yes indeed 3 weeks later, not uncommon. I definitely agree with Quickstatus about getting assessed.
I know it's hard but you should try to think positively JohnK. Both of you are made of strong stuff to have come this far.

Paying for past sins? ;)

Wife had x-ray and urine test today. Doctor says nothing wrong and is normal to experience pain and bleeding for a couple of months after stent. Has asked wife to relax more with lots of bed rest, drink plenty of water, cut out all medications apart from paracetamol.
