General Medical issues thread

My knee has been painful for a couple of weeks and I saw my GP last week. Had an x-ray and ultrasound today.
The ultrasound took a long time from every possible angle.

I said to the technician, lucky I'm not a horse eh. I'd be gelded and shot.

He just looked at me and said, 'you'd be glue.' šŸ“

We'll see what the GP says on Thursday.

I recently did the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program and it was negative. But it was very icky. Still, it's better than a colonoscopy or cancer.

An update on my sciatica. It first started on May 1st. I could barely hobble and for the next few days and would just make 1000 steps a day. W e arrived at our home on Monday May 4th and that night I doubled my Amitryptiline dosage to 50mg at night with little effect for the first 2 weeks only walking ~ 2000 steps a day but today 4 weeks later I am much better. 6000 steps a day for the last 5 days and today on my way to over 8000 steps.
Should be fine for our next trip in 3 weeks.

Had my three wisdom teeth out last Tuesday and all went well. I was not looking forward to it but it was actually pretty much pain free.

In and out of hospital by 1:30pm after a general anesthetic. Started the painkillers about six hours later as directed and didn't have any pain. Besides soft foods and favouring one side of the mouth while eating I found the most uncomfortable thing being able to feel the stitches in my mouth. It's like having bits of string in there but you forget about it until it brushes your tongue out of nowhere šŸ˜¬ He reckoned they take about a week to dissolve so hopefully they will be gone soon enough.

I did learn I couldn't be a heroi_ addict though. I knew opiods could clog you up but was surprised at how quickly it happens šŸ¤£

I couldn't be one b/c I just don't like the oxycodone affect. Mind you I am not too fussed about ketamine nor fentanyl either.
You know they sell oxycodone tabs for $100 each?

Hahah I knew they were pricy but not that high. One of my colleagues is less than squeaky clean and has mentioned such stuff before. Distributing prescription pills is not really my scene though lol.

I mentioned this to someone I know and was surprised when they offered to buy my left overs. Most of the box. Yeah, nah.

Jeez! I flushed my prescription down the sink to prevent me from taking them!

I don't care about that but the morality of doing so.

All the drugs that get flushed have become a huge problem. You catch a fish to eat and is anti-biotic resistant.
Actually, I misspoke. I remember now considering flushing them but ground them up and put in garbage bag with general rubbish. Probably should have taken them back to pharmac_ but CBA.

I asked the doctor about them yesterday and he said it was a moot point about the cost because they just can't get them. I'm having surgery soon and after @Pushka experience I thought I might pay the cost
It's a two week plus recovery if it gets you bad. Not everyone gets it like that. I'm still coughing but not to the point of, well, fill in the dots, but I do get breathless still and sometimes can't finish a conversation. And then there's the fatigue. Because you also can't sleep. Plus, you make all these moaning noises šŸ˜³ I'm on day 18. About 80%.

I've been ill from similar recently and on my flight back to London I was coughing heavily nonstop for quite some time. The captain came back (this was just after doors closed) and said I was scaring people, I had to put on a mask on otherwise they'd remove me from the plane. That was with LH.

This was a very 'wet' cough. You just couldn't get to the 'end' of each spasm. I'd hate to be on a plane for exactly the reason you've experienced. We fly in two weeks. Should be fine.

Swmbo ( who has been unwell) asked the gp about RSV vaccination.
The advice was that the vaccine was expensive , had questionable efficacy, and was not advisedā€¦..
