General Medical issues thread

Had my regular PMR inflammation levels blood test last week which was around 2.5 weeks after RSV. They looked a little poor. Inflammation markers - both of them more than double what they were when PMR was diagnosed. Low RBC and high WBC plus low sodium and low chloride. High platelet . Specialist is away and not checking so not really sure what happens next. I’m feeling much better but guess the bloods will take a while to sort.

Had the 6 weekly SPC change on Tuesday. Has been around 6 months since it was first put in. The community nurses are concerned that nothing has happened on the referral front as this entire thing was meant to be short term. The referral has also disappeared from their system, so they have no idea what's going on. They are chasing it up (again).
The Meloxicam my GP put me on in early Feb improved the problem, such that by mid April I was able to void my bladder without using the tube. The reason I started on the Meloxicam cleared up, so I stopped taking it, partly to see if the bladder thing would get worse again.
Has been fine, until this past weekend. Normal flow out of bladder has started to become constricted again, but feels like the partial (?) blockage is now in a different spot.

Started getting vertigo recently. First time about 2 months ago came as part of a migraine. Another one last week, without other migraine symptoms. Went to the walk in center for it after getting sent home from work. They said to go to the hospital if it got worse.
It got worse, went to the hospital Friday last week.
During a CT scan, they found a small aneurysm. They don't think it's related to the vertigo, but want to follow up on it.

For most of the past 2 weeks, I've gotten up feeling fine, then gotten progressively worse throughout the day. Many of the normal migraine symptoms + dizziness but without aura. Getting worse the longer I move around. Left work early yesterday. Decided it was better to take rest of week off (rather then go for 2 hours, get dizzy then go home) until my GP appointment early next week.

Had Flu shot and a Covid booster on Tuesday after the community nurse appointment. Had Wednesday off with apparent side effects (happened last year as well).

Have spent more time off sick in the past 6 months then I have in the prior 15 years (and that includes a 7 day isolation period for Covid, a week off for what turned out to be blood infection and a period of workers comp in 2019)

Some reports of the second shot ( for which we are due) producing some localised reactions

Typing left handed today as having my bi-monthly infusion, this time at a private facility instead of NBH. Process a little different here and it is taking longer. The view isn,t bad though. Had a D&M with my haematologist about her recent grading of me. IPO (ipe?). Grade 3, high intrmediate. I nformed her i most definitely intended being around well past the 5 year term. Thankfully she agreed and explained that statistically that is th band I fall into and it does not take into account my charaacter. ;)

I went to the dentist yesterday for check up and clean. When I get there I was told the dentist was away but you'll get your clean. (I was a tad terse about not being told) I noticed today on my BUPA claim that the dentist's name as the provider. Is that legal do you think to have someone's name on there but they didn't actually see you?

Was it a hygienist or a dentist who did the clean? If latter, I'd not worry.

IPI - international prognostic index ;)

Friends visited yesterday. One now has tested positive for covid today she says. What's the point of friends one may ask!
She said she had sniffles when she arrived . :( Couldn't sit outside on deck because little drummer boy next door was in full flight. We did keep our distance but house closed up and AC for winter. Sigh...

Some people still just don't get it @TheRealTMA - even if it is a cold, nobody wants their germs 😷
Hope you remain well 🤞

Don't stress too much. We spent the long weekend with my mum (ie stayed at her house) and she tested positive on the Tuesday. None of us got it.

Thanks. I'm not too stressed but Mrs is recovering from (in remission from) NSCLC so has weakened immune system so we do have to be careful. Our friend seems to think Covid is just a minor annoyance but I'd like to suggest to her that if she has symptoms then perhaps she should consider isolating, but I can't really do that.
