General Medical issues thread

New body would be nice please. Too much wear and tear on the current one mostly self inflicted.

That's the thing JohnK. I kept myself fit, exercised, never smoked, only drink when I am with love_the_life , and it all went to carp this year.

At least you had some fun doing it. :p

Fun? Not sure I would call smoking up to 100 cigarettes a day fun. The late nights. The drinking to excess. The gambling. The loose women.

Oh maybe the loose women were fun? :p

We age quickly. Sorry to hear about your issues this year. Not good. But if you're as stubborn as me you'll do ok.

Good lord JohnK. Hope the missus doesn't read that! :p

Surviving my first day back at work. Lots of emails and phone calls but relatively painless despite being off pretty much for two weeks.

Just finished with GP.

Me: "I was in distress last night. I almost died. Mouth and throat dry and couldn't breathe. Water didn't help. The Nilstat helped a little."
GP: "Sounds like you also had some sort of anxiety/panic attack."
Me: "More than likely. First I took 2 Panadeine Forte for the pain. Didn't help. Then I took 1/2 Xanax twice but that didn't help either."
GP: "Be careful about self medicating with Panadeine Forte and Xanax."
Me: "I don't normally do that but I was panicking and had no other answers. Would it have been better if I went to the ER in that condition and waited 3, 4, 5 , 6 hours to be seen?"
GP: Blank look.
Me: "I try my best under the circumstances."

Just had the first Fungilin lozenge. GP also gave me predMix to gargle then swallow.

Well I knew you would jump right in if I said I didn't drink much so just preempting the obvious. :D

Maybe JohnK the GP thought your words 'I almost died' made him jump to the conclusion it was anxiety. If I thought I was going to die then I'd call 000. With inability to breathe you would have been triaged into treatment really quickly. I know I was seen with 5 minutes. Next time which hopefully there won't be, it's the ambulance if it repeats?

Maybe you should try some meditation/mindfulness? Sometimes just concentrating on your breath can do wonders.

Feel better already thanks. Hope don't have a reoccurrence of last night.
Had another occurrence this morning. :(

Dry mouth and throat followed by panic/anxiety attack. I was able to relax quickly as I was expecting it and starting sipping water every few minutes and this helped. My tongue today hurts more and now stings too. Typical symptoms of oral thrush but now not sure with added panic/anxiety attacks.

Oral thrush causing panic attacks or panic attacks making oral thrush feel worse.. Think may need some tests if this continues. :(

Not so good JohnK. Hope it's better soon. Christmas is coming and you don't want to be poorly for that this year :)

Anyone have some ideas for reducing tinnitus - all the usual things are not working and its getting worse. No sleep last night because it was so loud, and can't use sleeping meds because they damage my ears more
