JohnK, better analgesia often achieved when painkillers are taken in combination.
They then have an effect that is greater than the sum of the individual pills. = "synergistic effect"
example is panadol osteo (6 pills per day instead of 8) plus antiinflammatory like nurofen. Use panadol osteo as a baseline and add in others like nurofen tramadol as required.
That is essentially what I have been doing recently. Panadol Osteo and Nurofen Zavance. I try not to take medication daily.

That might be one thing you need to change to get relief. Pain is easier managed with a constant relief then just taking it when you are in pain. It is harder to get on top of it if you are already in pain, rather then take the tablets before the pain starts again. Taking tablets is not a bad thing if it enhances your quality of life.
Why not give the Panadol Osteo+Nurofen combo a go for a couple of weeks. Not just when you are in pain, but all the time, 3-4 times daily and take them no matter what. It might actually give you better relief then just taking the single dose.

I understand you have tried most things, I know it is hard and I really do hope you find something that helps you.

My 6 month old daughter has now had diarhhea for close to a week, possibly longer. She is teething with 2 lower teeth appearing. She had mild fever for 2-3 days while she was teething but may have also picked up a virus.

We went to hospital in Pattaya on Tuesday and they said everything looks fine and she has probably picked up a stomach virus and is getting or has gotten over it. Gave us electrolytes to give her. Went to GP in Sydney on Friday who suggested it could also be the effects of a virus and also lactose intolerance so we bought formula without lactose and she has had that the past few days.

She still has constant diarrhea. She looks normal and is feeding as one would expect. Her teeth are strong and sharp. Waiting for results from the stools. Hope all is OK.

Generally not a good idea to take nurofen continuously. Maybe 3 days at a time is Ok but not continuously.
But Panadol Patel as a base line the. Top up with nurofen as required.

Interesting the chemistry behind nurofen zavance. It's the same active ingredient as nurofen but formulated to be absorbed much quicker. It's really "nurofen rapid", but some marketing guru in the company thought "zavance" sells better - maybe because it's a play on the word advanced and can be trademarked

I really hope your daughter gets well soon. Its never easy when the young ones are sick.

I have tried 4gms Paracetamol daily for a month. I understand the concept of loading up on paracetamol but doesn't work for me.

I need the quick fix. The only thing that works is Codeine Phosphate used sparingly. I know it is addictive which is why I limit the intake to when the pain is unbearable. That's not often. Maybe 2-3 times/week sometimes longer. Vary the dose between 30mg-60mg but find 45mg works quite ok. Endone did not have the desired effect the last time I took it so don't want to touch it again unless desperate.

I hope so too. Even at this early stage it would appear she has inherited many of her her dads defects. It all started with placenta previa which was identical to my mothers condition when she was pregnant with me.

Sorry to hear it didnt work for you, but at least you seem to have found something that does the trick. One glove does not suit everyone and we all have individual reactions to different meds.

Well, she seem to have a great father and that is a great start, no matter what. Hopefully it will get better, not only with this condition, but also in her future.

36 days to go, it does feel a bit tight even with the cuts up each side. Not looking forward to the heat and humidity.....

Have you started counting down already? How far up the arm is the cast?

I started counting down last Friday! It's a short cast about 4 cm from my elbow, but it covers most of my left thumb, which is a real pain. Don't know how people cope with a long one.
Erika says it shouldn't have been split down the sides as I'm a noncompliant patient and will probably take it off.

Has anyone found any cruise travel insurance for a passenger who is 94 and has emphysema? The 5 day cruise leaves from and returns to the same Australian port and stops at two Australian ports.

I tried insureandgo and they were unable to provide a policy.

Well, some results came back ok, but not conclusive :p Doc is not entirely happy and has referred me for an MRI that will take place next week... Thank God for the Australian health system. Not only am I getting the investigations needed, I am getting them within a great time frame as well.

Had my MRI the other day, they called me up and asked if I could com in early. Talked to my boss, got permission to leave half an hour early.... Too bad that my relief decided to have an hour and ten for her 30 minute lunch break :p Thanks to a few fantastic co workers I got to leave as they took the pagers away instead. The disrespect and selfishness of some people just gets to me!

MRI went good but I was so tired, I fell asleep during the scan :D :D And the best news, the results came back all clear!! :D Yay!! I would much rather be menopausal then tumours, so this is great news! :D Back into full planning mode to get this holiday going :D I didnt really realise how I put things on hold... even though I didnt think it was anything, I still did without even thinking about it...
Glad to be all ok :)

That's really wonderful news RoseAnna. I'm so glad for you and your family.

Now you can get on with your holiday plans. :)

Not quite over the 2 week cold virus and picked something up again on the weekend most likely from the flights to PER, SIN, CGK and back to SYD. Sore throat and partially blocked ears.

That's 3 in row now without break from mid-February. Pharyngitis, cold and now another cold/throat infection.

Sounds like you should just quit flying.
