General Virgin Australia discussion

Has anyone redeemed a rewards VA SYD - DPS J before? We have Y booked for 7th April for 3pax (2 adults, 1 infant) rewards but wondering if its worth keeping an eye on J availability. Checking a lot of dates cant see any rewards seats, just full fare.
Can’t say i’ve seen one! You see them sometimes through Aeroplan (air canada). I’m guessing if you find one there it should also be available via VA.

Unsure if this is the right thread.
I want to book one reward seat from Dublin to Melbourne in May. The site shows no availability for that day. If however I put in Dublin to Doha and then a separate flight from Doha to Melbourne for the same day & times, both flights have availability.
I'm guessing thats really not an option as my bags wouldnt be booked through to melbourne and I would have to collect them. Do I have any option to make this work?

Call VA and see if they can make it work on a single ticket so bags can be through checked. If they can’t, because of married segments or other revenue control, consider a stopover in DOH for 24 hours.

Interested to see how this goes? To be fair, Qatar who will be the handling airline at Dublin, are actually quite good with separate tickets. They have even checked my bags through from QR flights onto BA flights with a separate PNR a few times.

Called both Qatar & Virgin who both said it would be up to the Check in Desk. Virgin can book it for me over the phone and put it on one reservation but think its two separate flights.
Surely the check in desk at Dublin can book the bags right through to Melbourne????? Seems you even managed getting them onto BA flights with no issues

You can have to separate tickets on one booking. That would be protected if all on the one ticket.
