sorry if its been mentioned before,

does woolworths generally sell HN or JBHIFI or Good guys gift cards?

is there a way to get 5% off or discounts at all?

I see individuals selling HN or Jbhifi cards at 5% discount as a service, and not a once off

Yes and No some do, just go into your local ones and check.

The guy you are probably referring to is potm on ozb, he gets them from his work and energy or health fund rewards and gets cc points for buying for people.

Wish gift and Coles I understand.
What about jbhifi etc etc
Unless he is going out and buying jbhifis Fri woolies

I always check the balance of any gift card I buy the same day of purchase.

That's where the woolworths ,oney app comes in handy. add the card after purchase and check instantly. any issues you're already in store and can sort it out there and then.

Including those. I have access to those cards as well, 10% off via my health fund and work.

only thing I hate about woolies is having to type in the gift card number and pin!!

yeah. wish they'd have in the app some sort of Q code or bar code that you could scan to make the payment.

at least when using the woolies money app I can keep track of the GCs I have. Make splitting payments much easier to use up a low value GC at a self serve kiosk.

But at least with woolies the staff doesnt need to check visual items for gc's :)

So let's not get them to change the system!

AVOID post office Livepool westfield. They refuse to accept eftpost gift card, saying it is not ACTUAL Eftpost card link to your saving account. FFS

They might be referring to the fact it can't take 'withdrawl' commands, which is true (IE you can't use it for cashout, which is reasonable enough). Sounds like an over zealous staff member refusing to try again after something broke once.

That said we should keep an eye on any other rejections, hopefully we don't see an Aus-post wide card ban like XS.

Though as an EFTPOS card there will be plenty of other opportunities to use.

Coles offer: Also includes DJ gc so is there any way to convert those as they don't have the $5.95 cost at Coles? Had a look today and they only had 3 of the only1 gc out. By the way these are eftpos not visa now

I've found using any Eftpos cards (including 'perfect' Eftpos GC which they sell) at the counter at PO a waste of time. They seem to be over zealous (especially the 'more mature' staff. They sprout out the line about using them for bill payments as the same as getting cash out and therefore not within the spirit of the GC (obviously 'normal' retail use maximizes the inconvenience in using every last dollar and the chance that small balances expire.
Best to use at self serve. Shame about the multiple payment costs for $88/$100 cards when paying strata, etc.

I use it to pay ATO BAS, they let me pay 1 card $88 - and I took another 7 cards out, they refuse to accept.

Auspost also sell many gift cards including eftpos card. How do they reject their own gift card on the shelf ?

Can anyone share any other locations around sydney for 24/7 self serve auspost ? other than QVB. There is one at world square, But only take cash :(

I just don't know why au post have such bad attitude . I know the owner of a po. They make a small fee on each payment , so it's better for them to put through many transactions . Wtf is wrong with those ppl ... power trippers

It's what I call '9 to 5 Syndrome' - they're there to do their hours and do as they're told. If they're told not to take eftpos GCs, then that's what they do as they don't need the extra work of giving things a try when we ask politely or grief of coming up on a management report for having taken a non standard form of payment (this may not actually happen but they've been told this and as others have cited PO takes a clip on these payments which is why that cost is now being passed on to us e.g. $3 each Amex payment).
Might be looking at it too simplistically, but seems to be my experience across other businesses too.
I contrast this with situations where you are on pay for performance- you'll go out of your way to help the customer if it means you're getting paid more by giving them what they want and encouraging them to come back.

I'm not sure I would hold it against post office staff. A customer showing up wanting to pay a bill in $88 lots using several bright orange cards with a large picture of a rooster and 2017 on it understandably might make them think that something dodgy is going on.

To be clear, I don't blame them. I just try to see things from their perspective. I see it in my business everyday with support staff attitudes vs front office attitudes to getting things done. That's just the way the world is - not their fault. Tied to how and how much we're paid. Self-serve machine (esp when it's not busy) is great for over-coming these issues in this situation.

Agree, lots of EFTPOS cards at once might raise some red flags - at least the thought to check with a supervisor.
