Ordering large numbers of these at one time slows the process considerably. Better to order one at a time. That way they usually arrive in a couple of hours.

I converted 6 x DM GC to a physical $300 wish card at a self serve checkout with assistance from a staff member - or at least I thought I did.

I gave it to my wife for groceries and when using it to pay was told it has no value - never been loaded as opposed to being used. The e cards via DM show as spent on the WW app.

I will go in tomorrow but thought I would ask if it is common, or if I did something wrong/ missed doing something?

I'm assuming it will be easy to fix as it is a WW product, and not the beginning of a saga like those with Bunnings GC issues?

Did you keep your purchase receipt and separate receipt showing activation? If so, should be easily fixed.

I'm not aware of this being common.

Your activation receipt should show that everything was OK at the point of purchase.

There were reports of DM wish cards being fraudulently accessed. But this was some time ago.

I always check the balance of any gift card I buy the same day of purchase.

I have the purchase receipt. Tomorrow will tell

Went in and had it fixed up today, took about 10 minutes and a lecture from the manager about not being allowed to buy gift cards with GC yadda Yadda yadda :(

Seems there is a second docket printed out (after the receipt I received) that needs to be scanned or has a code or something- As per Plutonus and DR Ralph's posts above  With the receipt I had, they just reprinted the activation docket and activated a new card for me... :)

It's a bendigo bank terminal, when I swipe it, it says invalid date.
The card is fine cause it works at other EFTPOS places.

I had the same Bendigo Bank / Invalid Date problem today when I tried to pay for my haircut with one of my $88 EFTPOS cards. Had to use Visa instead.

With that many you could justify a status run :)

At the risk of saying the obvious, the other pitfall of buying in bulk is not having the spare cash to pay the CC bill :)

Hmmmm
If you owned your own business or know someone an d have your own terminal (ignoring tax implications)
You could put through the eftpos transactions until they sell out!

Don't use square. I used square to put through $1000 of my first haul of Coles GCs last year. Got a please explain email 'why all sales GC?'. Not sure how closely 'traditional' merchant facilities from banks are monitored. Just something to be aware of if your business depends on your terminal functioning and you've negotiated a sharp rate with the bank.

Wouldn't a none of your business sufficed?

Or is it one of those 'at our discretion' situations

I didn't respond just stopped using it as the funds had already transferred out to the linked settlement account by then. My interpretation is if you use their system, you're answerable to them. If there's any activity that doesn't make them money, then they will shut it down (I'm sure that's the gist of the long agreements that come with almost anything nowadays).

Which is fair enough

But I hate it when businesses offer something and they on the spot decide not to honor it due to not making a profit (pricing error excluded)

at least with square you don't have to have a business and can link it to a personal account (for gumtree or facebook sales) also they sometimes offer no fee transactions for referrals and such

Yes it was introduced late 2016, at least in mid 2016 there wasnt a $2.75 fee per payment (per scan). Back then even buying the perfect gift card $105.95 with 5% off (which means less than $1 for 300 odd points) egift seems ok if you have a 3ppd card.

Only worth it with bonus promo like this now unless anyone knows of a way to truly split payment on AusPost

This is exactly what I did too. In the past, they were also able to do it all in one transaction, so even if there was a $2.75 fee, it would only have been payable once. This worked out better (assuming a good points valuation and 5% min wish discount) than their horrendous 1.5% visa and 3.3% amex surcharge.

However Aus Post have locked down payment options, according to a conversation yesterday with a CSR at my local. They can't switch a payment method after a transaction is entered, like they used to be able to.

From OzBargain, there appears to be a 2,000 FlyBuys bonus ($10) with Only1 Visa cards at Coles in next week's catalogue. Since it is in the catalogue, maybe there's no limit on how many you can buy?

really going to be broke with all these giftcard deals !

I haven't seen the catalogue yet, but deals just like this are very common and normally have a limit of 1 purchase.

Update: limit of 1 confirmed.
