Gift Cards at Supermarkets

Any reason why you used phone payment and not online payment (Postbillpay)?

Good point. Although, using that chucks you out of the Bupa login and your account has no recognition of the payment made. With AHM, it is all internal and the 'paid to' date updates wioth each payment made.

I noticed some Virgin Australia gift cards at woolies today in $50/100 denominations. I hadn't spotted these before. Of limited use for accruing extra points on edge as only 1 voucher can be redeemed per booking.

Are these fee free? I assume that they are.

Which supermarket?

A quick q

Those red Westfield gift cards for $50/$100 denominations do say only inside Westfield or some retailers that choose to accept it outside for Westfield.

However can they be used anywhere like the perfect gift eftpos cards?

No. They only work at stores such as Woolworths and Coles which are both inside and outside Westfield centres.

Within the last month I've used them everywhere EFTPOS is accepted just like theperfectgiftcards.

But be aware that things are constantly changing.

There are at least 2 different types of Westfield gift cards so it's hard to answer this question. As Dr Ralph says, things are constantly changing. Check if there is a purchase fee for the card you want.

I thought the super markets only stocked the xs red ones with the denominations
As far as I am aware they do.

May be best to do a test run with one card.

Worst case scenario is you end up with a card that has to be used at a Westfield.

In my experience the red Westfield cards (supposedly the 'inside Westfield' cards) can be used anywhere an eftpos card can be used. I have used the current lot from the Amex offer in early September at my chiro, small garden centres, cafes, restaurants, Chinese supermarkets, etc. with no problem at all. None of these were in a Westfield.

I found this on Westfield's website, it appears that there are two types of cards

Yes. But they have always been encoded in the same way. IE. They are identical despite what they claim to state.

That is absolutely correct. Westfield want to kid you into thinking the red card won't work outside Westfield so that you will pay more for the card that apparently does. However they both work in the same way.

And just quietly, it would be good if things remained that way.... ;)
