Gift Cards at Supermarkets

I had always suspected there was some rounding down occurring but have chosen to ignore it. Thanks for confirming. I think I will stop paying my health insurance in $100 lots.

My PHI is CBHS, your one may not be rounding down, but I just thought I should tell others of my experience with doing this. Once I contacted them they credited the missing weeks to the account, but had I not noticed I would have lost out.

That's very valuable feedback. I think I might save myself the risk of this sort of hassle.

Anyone had any luck paying their CTP Greenslip through NRMA with V1s? Across the counter maybe?
I have done this in store previously. They'll try to tell you they can't do it. Just respond with 'well in that case I'll be buying my greenslip elsewhere'. You'll find their attitude soon changes.

I use Paypal to renew my NRMA greenslip and comprehensive insurance and use the AMEX.

Thanks. Saw that before, but you'll only get 1pt per $ directly at officeworks. And I don't think you can use woolies gift card to buy things at officeworks.

May be buying COLES myer group GC from Coles, with PE for 3MR / $1.

And use GC at Officeworks to pay for it ? Will they allow it ?

Has worked for me. Can often get these gift cards discounted via an amex offer at places like first choice or myer.

am still looking for an amex accepting place that sells 5% off coles or coles myer cards,
unfortuatnely, ive only found one, but they have a small surcharge and max $4k per year

Likewise, as sometimes you wonder if its worth getting the 5% off e.g. from racq when its not a coles myer and you cant use amex.

ive 90% given up,
I dont go to coles at all, except for the odd sale

on top of that the system wont allow you to buy GC with GC,
some say its worked for them, but for me, not once

Hit and miss for me as well. But i do try intermittently :)

So I tried to pay NRMA online using V1s. No go. Went to my local NRMA branch where I was told I could only split the payment over two methods.:p They suggested I use one V1 and use something called cash for the remainder. What's "cash"?

So I then went to Aust Post and tried the self-serve machine; no go.:(

Finally, I tried across the counter at Aust Post where the lovely Brooke said "No problem at all Sir; I'ld be happy to do that for you".:)

I can see myself becoming a regular customer.

My experience is LPOs will generally love to help you with that sort of thing. If the surcharge our strata company puts on DEFT payments is anything to go by, the PO gets a fixed $2.75 for each transaction. Ten transactions = ten surcharges. Worth it from their perspective, especially if they're quiet at the time.

But it pays to make some 'friends' at post offices who don't question you bringing in multiple cards all the time :)

Yeah, since the "iTunes gift card scam' has hit mass media, I sometimes receive sideways glances anytime I have more than a handful of cards on me. Took the time to explain this hack to a keen LPO staff member who now has adopted a similar practice. :D

well, used my PE at an officeworks store recently and just realised the points come in at 3:1. Online order at officeworks only seems to be 2:1. It's quite confusing.
But still, second best option compared to woolworths 5% discount

That's very interesting; so Officeworks is treated as a supermarket?
