1. What are my options for getting a discount on Coles vouchers?
2. Could I then use these vouchers to buy Bunnings vouchers instore?
3. Any other ways to get discounts on Bunnings vouchers?

AGL Rewards is an option if you use AGL for energy.
Yes you can buy Bunnings cards at Coles with the gift cards, and collect another ~1% back through FlyBuys.

Okay, so a few questions regarding the use of gift cards. I am about to undertake a major house renovation doing a lot of the work myself and trying to make my dollars go as far as possible. Looking at probably around 130k in material costs. I have Bunnings, Masters and Home Timber and Hardware nearby. I will be approaching them to see if they can offer me trade pricing (not sure what kind of discount this might be off their list pricings) or anything along those lines though I don't have an ABN.

Alternatively my questions/statements below, please correct me if I am wrong or you believe there is a better way to get a discount:

Woolworths Group
1. If I purchase Woolworths WISH cards (5% through Entertainment Book) I can then use these at Masters, correct?
2. Masters has intermittently also been running promotions with 15% Gift Cards back per $100 spend.
3. Thus if I can wrangle it and get my timing right spend $1000 actual cost is only $800. Though they do exclude 'trade quantities' but haven't seen a definition of that so might have to split the sales up.
4. Otherwise they also offer to beat a cheaper price by 10% so will do some investigating there.
5. Masters is struggling for business so am more than happy to cash in on any promotions they are running!

Cheers, TIL.

Woolworths
1- Correct. The reverse also works. Masters cards also work at Woolworths. So if you can buy discounted Masters gift cards you can use them for your petrol or grocery shopping.
Coles
1- Entertainment Book no longer sells discounted Coles gift cards. So options are very limited. I know some organisation memberships/discount clubs still sell Coles gift cards at 5% discount but they are either not open to public or have joining fees.
2- Yes but since the discounted Coles gift cards are scarce your best best is buying Bunnings gift cards at Coles stores and collecting 3x Amex points.
3- if you have an ABN try opening a trade account with Bunnings (I think you get something called power card). You get 5-10% discount depending on the item plus you can pay with the Bunnings gift cards you bought from Coles.

Don't forget an extra 1.25% cashback from PricePal for on-line orders (include Click and Collect) from Masters. And they often have 10% discount codes via advertising brochures.

this question might be already answered somewhere in the previous 59 pages but could someone tell me - does buying online woolies giftcards from everydaygiftcards.com.au through the entertainment book count as "supermarket" purchases for the sake of bonus points on the plat edge?
thanks!

Yes it does.

Is that a new development. I tried it about a year ago when I got the platinum edge and it came through as 1 PPD

I've only ever ordered via Ent Book but has posted as 3/$ for at least last 18 months

Yes, I saw the report of only getting one point but I've been doing for years and always got 3. I think at one stage the Entertainment card site had a different landing page than everydaygiftcards.com.au and this may have been why there was only 1 point but can definitely confirm currently its 3 points as at 2 weeks ago.

I got 1 PPD for $1 for one of the transaction & I wrote to Amex. They fixed it very quickly & post the extra 2 PPD back.

You can do the Tell Coles survey to get a $5 off $100 voucher. It can be used to buy Bunnings Gift card at Coles.

Coles just removed the $5 reward for the Tell Coles survey.

The only reward they are going to give now is 50 flybuys points and that's only if you get an email invitation from flybuys.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I am doing up my budget based on list prices so if I can bring things back by 10% that is another 10k-13k I should have available!

It is usually 5% but some items can be much more. I have had as much as 50% for some timber products. No discount for electrical or power tools.
Here's a few offers from Masters too for power tools: Special Offers from masters_home_improvement

$20 off $250
$40 off $400
$100 off $700

If you know someone with an ABN, I think they can nominate you as a contractor. I think that would give an extra 5% saving.
With an ABN you can get a trade card. 5% discount - not sure about electrical.

You inspired me!

https://www.bunningspowerpass.com.au

Be warned - even if you click "Cash only card" you will still keep seeing statements about T&Cs for credit. Ringing them I got the response "Just ignore those, click agree and at the end you'll just get the cash card. System's not great, sorry."

This could be a bad move...

So hard to walk out with only 1 item.....

not quite gift cards but I noticed

* masters is giving 2 points per $

* supabarn is giving 3 points per $

* DM and BWS giving 3 points per $
