The earn rates in the stores JO'N mentioned is certainly news to me and is different to the Edge T&Cs last time I looked

Yeah, I still have no idea which card those rates apply to. Was just guessing that it might be the Plat Edge...

yeah, why I thought I'de let others know as I'd generally use a different card because I'd assume the amex edge wouldn't provide as many miles as it seems to be doing.

hopefully it's not going to be enhanced away

There is a lesson in this, dont believe everything you read in T&C's! Seems to me that reality and the T&C's frequently differ!

not quite gift cards but I noticed

* masters is giving 2 points per $

* supabarn is giving 3 points per $

* DM and BWS giving 3 points per $

Just found in another thread that DM is paying 2ppd for in-store purchases, and 3ppd for online.

I also just discovered that they're paying 3ppd on Harris Farm Online as well (from the recent $50 cashback $100 spend!)

Hi

Does anyone know if you can purchase a physical Vintage cellars gift card with a Coles e gift card at self service?

Thanks,
Paul

I've bought most types of giftcard with plastic giftcards in Coles at self service. I've always mixed in a couple of grocery items. The giftcard has to be authorised by an assistant but they disappear when you go to pay. I'm in Sydney, I understand they are not keen on buying giftcards at self-serve in some parts of Melbourne.

I've had no problems paying for plastic giftcards with e-giftcards at WW (again mixed in with some grocery). I tend to use the standard checkouts there as the activation system isn't 100% reliable at self-serve

I think it's because I look like a criminal but I had trouble at multiple stores this week buying gift cards $5k plus. Maybe i might take off my beanie next time

The irony here is you probably think you're being funny whereas many of us are inclined to believe this is true.

Have had a couple of problems recently with delayed activation.

Last week went to buy a cricket bat at Rebel-I did what I usually do at the Mall and popped off to WW to buy Giftcard (triple points & 5%off). Came back and told it will take 24 hours for the card to be fully activated, Same thing happened in David Jones with a dress yesterday.

On both occasions they were able to keep the item behind for me so had/have to return. Have to go through the current parking schmozzle at the Mall twice in a row.

Haven't had problems with JB HiFi, Dick Smith or Myer giftcards in the past.

Yes andye I have hit that hurdle with only1 visa cards before. Bit of a pain to have to wait 24 hours...

I believe David jones is 48 hours. I've been caught out by this also. Live and learn I guess?

It all depends on the gift card, I've bought iSubscribe and Flight Centre gift cards before which say 24 hours, but have worked straight away. Event Cinemas gift cards say 24 hours, but was activated overnight.

Coles have a new prepaid MasterCard out "coles brand" a little cheaper than the gift card this card costs $5 as appose to$5.95 in fees but you can still buy on amex 3 points per dollar I wish Woolworths would bring out something similar

They also have a reloadable MasterCard which can take up to $10k but not available in store. Assuming the economics of us all descending on our local Coles store with our platinum edge cards doesn't work :(

I'd assumed you had to reload with bank transfer rather than using credit-am I wrong?

Maths could be interesting combined with AGL Rewards if this is a direct purchase rather than a load card
