Well, some people are good at some things and know a lot about them, and some people are good at other things.

Can you buy those Coles Mastercard with discounted coles gift card? That will turn out even better than getting 3MR/$1 from Amex.

I have been prevented from using a (coles group) GC by staff before. Same store that copied my license. They quoted t&c's on card.

Personally I feel I just about do better with 3MR than 4% discount even allowing for the Visa/MC earn

I "admitted" that in my first question about paying for the card at WOW. I "admitted" that by saying that I would pay (Fairfax), at WOW. My not realising that it was not transferable is not a case for a "case". Had I thought that Coles owned the card, as averse to Fairfax, the 'case' might be different. If I am guilty of not knowing the law and am therefore "ignorant", so be it. Guilty as charged Mr Brandis.

You do realise that you just admitted that you knew that someone owned the property and earlier you admitted that you took it without that persons permission or payment. Case closed.

You might want to look into the deifinition of larceny.

What if I took a can of coke from Coles without paying and then took that same can to woolies and paid for it there?

This is larceny!

Actually with an un-activated gc it is not larceny as it has no value until activated.

Both C and W have been seen by myself encouraging children to take them home with them to play with.

When I asked some years ago (as they were encouraging one of our brood) they said "They're worthless until activated, so let him take a handful."

Have you ever wondered about the low placement of some of the gc displays?

Some gcs (Flight Centre for example) do issue different ones to W than they do to C.

Equally, they have also encouraged me (when I was buying a large number of one gc) to take a pile with me to activate another time as their system was very slow.

There is a major difference between taking an item with a realisable value and one that is effectively worthless. A coke can is an "Apples & Oranges" example IMHO.

I'd take the advice of a lawyer any day over someone who thinks that they know the law :)

I too have had team members at Woolies and Coles encourage the children to take home gift card as they have no value until activated. I didn't allow the children to take up the offer...

So what's the message here? Let the kids take as many unactivated gift cards as they can, stockpile them at home, then return to the store and activate them when there's a bonus offer on, and the cards are then in short supply? ;)

Is it similar to post office plastic envelopes that are pre paid. The value is only when they are posted. Had this discussion with a postal worker when I addressed the wrong size envelope.

20 pre paid Cole Mastercard's purchased today using dicounted Coles gift vouchers.

@Flybuys is there somewhere I can subscribe to so I do receive these offers? I've missed every one this year except last week's one which was non-targeted.

Bought another 22 Coles master cards today, took about 10 minutes at self checkout. No problems from staff but did not try to use gift cards to buy them

Have you tried subscribing to flybuys newsletters? I normally receive targeted offers for these cards.

Just checked, I'm subscribed to everything under "flybuys" and was for most but not all of the coles ones. Will see if that affects it at all.

hey, I had the same issue.
Call them up and get them to delete your email and re enter it
It triggered something inside their system and now I am getting offers- before this I was getting ZERO emails . Nothing, nada, zip and I had been a fly buy member for 10+ years.
Let me know how it goes!

I was having the same issue - updated my email address and preferences online and received nothing for the last week. Called up and updated over the phone (she just re-typed the email and saved) and immediately received a confirmation email. Will advise if I start getting offers.
