Gift Cards at Supermarkets

Vodafone does take Amex but surcharge 2.15%+GST (more than Diners apparently at 2%) vs 0.486% for Visa and 0.228% for MC). Just switched to using Amex only because I want the screen protection insurance with my explorer otherwise would've kept using Visa - I'm sure a large merchant like Vodafone can get better merchant rates from Amex and Diners.

No PayPal unfortunately.

I'm about to buy a macbook pro and headphones from jbhifi.

Would the best way to be buy the coles myer gift cards on my Plat edge and then redeem them at office works for the full 3 pts per dollar?

Or can i just buy the jb hifi gift cards from woolworths for 3 pts per 1?

Do you have access to buy JB hi fi gift cards at a discount?

If not, then you can just buy JB gift card from Coles or Woolworths with Edge at 3 point per $1.

Or, you can also try, buy Woolworths e gift card via NRMA at 5% off with Edge card, which gives 3 point per $1, then use the e gift card to buy JB gift card at WW / Big W

Using cash rewards there is always a 5% discount for woolworths egift cards.

Just didn't know if you can buy gift cards with the egiftcard.

You'll usually be fine at a self checkout.
You will also get 3 MR/$ with Edge when you buy the WISH via Cashrewards/Ent Book/NRMA/Ambassador etc

Definitely.

Have done so hundreds of times. As recently as 3 days ago to purchase some flight centre gift cards at Woolworths.

But be aware that jb limits the number of gift cards you can use in a transaction.

I would say that there are some C*les (I'm looking at you Manly Peninsula) that are very officious about buying GCs with GCs

You cannot, per terms and conditions.

However, going to a Big W on a Sunday morning or Saturday morning, and the self check out staff is usually too busy helping other customers to watch you pay.

Coles, on the other hand, always watch me like a hawk

just curious, does woolies have %off discounts for gift card sales ever?

I thought buying gift cards with gift cards wasnt allowed, unless you get luck with the shop staff.

so by this examply, you buy wish gift cards 5% off, take these gift cards and buy jbhifi cards? does this even work?

doesnt that mean that hypothetitcally if woolworths had 5% off jb hifi cards, you could buy 5% off wish gift card, then use this card and get the 5% dis****ed jb hifi card which means 10% discount? and then you could use this jbhifi gift card to buy more wish gift cards at woolies?

Unfortunately you can't use Wish Gift cards ( Woolworths ) and use for payment against other gift cards.
The same applies for Coles.

Are gift cards for stores like JB Hi-Fi ones treated differently to iTunes?

I've bought countless iTunes cards at different Coles/Woolies/Officeworks, almost always via a human while paying with gift cards (physical and digital) and have never even got a question about it. Should I expect different treatment if I start grabbing other gift card types, or did I just get lucky with the locations?

yes thank you, I was under that impression too, so what was quoted is impossible?? unless the staff member allows it? or does the system now allow itive s

een a few contractidcintg statemetns on here

Almost every week.

Buy your WISH card for a discount and then use this WISH card to purchase the discounted gift cards. This magnifies the savings. I do this regularly and thought that this was common knowledge.

If you didn't know about it you might want to do some reading on these types of things over at ozbargains. Many there are streets ahead in how to magnify savings/discounts.

Despite what others have stated about buying gift cards with other gift cards I guarantee that the Coles and Woolworths terminals permit this activity or at least they did as recently as 3 days ago.

ok so to get good benefit, youd buy 5% discoutn wish gift via CR etc. and then for example use the $100 credit that you paid $95 for, and buy a $100 jbhifi card for example, and thus youd get 3points Amex MR vs 1 points Amex MR if going directly to jbhi

to get even more benefit , do the above but wait until say 5% jb sale. so essentially you get 10% off? right?

can you hypothetically use this jbhifi card and buy a Wish gift card at the terminal?

Your maths isn't correct as it's not a 10% discount. But the process is as I have described and you have restated.

And remember that you should be able to get WISH cards at more than just a 5% discount.

my maths aint so great, i know its not exactly 10%, its probably something like 10.11% ,

how do you get more than 5% wish discount,
cash rewards is 5% exccept for the odd time when they raise it to 5.25%
groupon somettimes have 5.75-7.5% off
big w seem to have more 7.5% sales at groupon than wish gifr cards

I know Coles are on top of it, But a few people here have reported success at Woolies, although I'm sure the loophole ( if it does exist) will be closed.
