Gin!

Down the South East of South Australia and went to one pub - what kind of gin do you have - Gordons or Gordons - yeah nup. Went down to the other pub and walked in a said I want a bottle of gin - do you have anything local and look what they had on display as I walked in.

Not the greatest gin I've ever had but perfectly acceptable and the first batch

Tonics - so I've now discounted Schweppes, Kirks, Cascade and any sugar free cough.

My favourites are Fever Tree Mediterranean and Capi.

Has anyone tried any of the tonic syrups and how they stand up against those and has anyone used them in a soda stream?

Might try and visit here next time I'm in Melbourne

Those interesting syrups are new to me ..I would like to hear from someone who has ordered them online before I purchase a bottle.

I"m embarrassed. I often just pick up the own brand Woollies or Coles!

I actually don't mind them. I like Capi but I've looked at Fever Tree and I have no idea which variety so normally just go home brand. Sorry, sorry about that!

Enjoying my G&Ts on the patio each evening since home.
only problem is the level in the bottle of gin drops rapidly.
Time to go back to NZ then ... :D

I'm passing through AKL on Saturday and have already pre ordered some from Aelia - 20% off with "SAVE20".

Last week I purchased St George - Terrior Gin from First Choixe Liquor.
It grabbed to my attention due to being an American Gin, plus on special for $61 for a 750ml bottle ( not the usual 700ml bottle).

Needless to say, I didn’t realise it was a Coles parallel brand until after I had purchased the bottle. The flavour is quite unique, more botanical in flavour than cheaper gin’s, with Lady Cool Cat remarking “ it’s very strong” ( Lets just say I pour generously :))

Anyway, if your looking for something a bit different or maybe a gift idea, then St George Terroir might be worth a go.

My favourite gin is the West Winds - the Cutlass
The Aussie botanicals work very well and we always serve it at our parties
People start with a couple of stiff ones and as it’s 50% it sneaks up on you and things are soon a bit crazier.... in a fun way.

Cracked out the Shiraz gin tonight and have found the colour has faded, it’s now a light pinkish brown instead of the vibrant colour it was when I purchased it.

Had it been in the sun because mine hasn't faded at all

Bought this in the UK and after we'd had one G&T each my friend said I don't like it and I said neither did I so I gave the bottle away

This one was just lovely and I haven't been able to find in Australia yet but I notice the Salopian Inn in McLaren Vale has it on their tasting list

I tried this tonic and got to quite like it - interesting a 500ml bottle in Dan Murphys is $4.69 and in UK supermarkets is 1.80 pounds so about 30% cheaper

I have, I particularly like the Bittermilk Charred Grapefruit Tonic and working through many of the others. You can get these via Dan's (online) and hence get CashRewards, 5% off etc.
