I am going to have a low step count today. Somehow just been busy today, standing up and going nowhere.

I have been noticing the low temperatures in Sale; Melbourne and Adelaide compared to Brisbane; why is Sale so cold. brrr.

It'll be a nice 30 degrees up in Broome and Derby when I'm there this week. Not very brrrr at all:!:

10ºC in CHC; somehow I'm over 12K today with a walk here a walk there and through MEL/CHC airports ...

After 3 entries, my average is a bit over 18K per day  but sadly, I've been eating much more (unhealthy) food as well

Sounds like most of us have had low totals today, I've only just cracked 7K now. Mine was a day spent at the desk in front of a computer and my wife walked the dogs whilst I looked after mini #2. Driving in a car to pick up mini #1 did little to add to my total.

Mrs LW has been intrigued by me entering the Challenge. She pulled out an old pedometer of hers - has a digital read-out of the time, steps and a radio. It also tells you how many steps you've walked.

Well, off to bed so I can get up early and get in a long walk before breakfast and work. Have a lunch seminar in a CBD Hotel - I might just walk to it

Currently in HKG Wing F Lounge, about to switch lounges to QF/BA possibly meet with wandering_fred.

Step count is rounding up to 17,000 soon. Hopefully it will do so when the day ticks over.

I think I'm being robbed... When I walk to work (about 10 mins), it's about 1000-1100 steps.

I went for a 2.5-3 hour walk yesterday, and it only gave me 12000. I pretty much walked non-stop and mostly faster than my normal speed too.

My walk to work has traffic lights, people to walk around, etc. The walk yesterday was mostly obstacle-free. Assuming speed was roughly the same, conversatively, it should give me at least 13000 steps...

(Yes, when you're lazy like me, you make every single step count! :) )

From mulling around Suvarnabhumi Airport (landside and airside), I've clocked up 8,900 steps, and the day really hasn't started yet.

Ah, now I think I understand why my team average is so high....

My daily average (including yesterday) is 11,633. Then I look at my team's average of 70,532

but when I look at the stats table I get:

No, it makes me feel below average :(...but I think there is something wrong between the two sets of figures.

Today has been a good start, 9.5K already. Helps when I have my morning constitutional walk with my active dog :D

Don't worry, you'll always have me to be below average. :) I've only done 5.6K today, and relatively speaking, I've been walking more than usual.

I suspect my usual daily average is around 7.5K...

Oh, and I think where you place the pedometer matters. I seem to get more steps if I place it towards the front of the hip rather than the side.

RTFM

That's what the user guide tell you to do, place it forward of the hip!

The little piece of paper that came with the pedometer only says put it level and put it on your hip, as does the FAQ online...?

I've already recycled the booklet that came with the backpack though, so I can't check there. :)

It actually reccomends not having it at the point of the hips; maybe via a diagram. I don't have the paper with me currently.

I've tried to put it just forward of the centre point on my hip, depending on where the eyelets for my belt lies.

Today has been a good day - 15.3K and getting close to bed. Good for my average :D

Got up earlier and went for a looong walk this morning, really helped (plus my walk to/from City). Problem now is that I'll expect more now. However, I think 10 days in South Australia walking around will keep my averages high.

I just got back from a 2km run (had to drop some stuff off to my sister) ; wasn't a long run but was enough to tip me over 12,000 for today so far.

Good lad, you are on my team aren't you :D

I should look at who's going to ozfest, because they should be getting good step counts over the weekend

We should be pretty even on Sunday, assuming you and the clan are still coming to the zoo?
