Global CrowdStrike IT outage impacting airports and more

I wonder how JQ services will be impacted tomorrow, what about all the flights they have to make up?
So at 1am I got the offical cancellation text and a link to rebook/cancel for a voucher. I've scrapped the weekend and am hoping the Accor hotel I'd booked will offer a refund. For those who are still going ahead annoyingly the BNE-AVV flight is only giving options into AVV instead of both AVV and MEL meaning the next available on the rebooking portal isn't until Sunday, It appears most of the BNE-MEL flights are full anyway and I don't know if they're offering QF as an option.

The heck!? I signed off early from work yesterday to detox for Friday arvo/evening from technology and have a big bubble bath.

Why do I always miss these popcorn moments?

Thoughts go out to anyone and everyone whose weekends have been disrupted by this nonsense.

How about return flight?
Was a VA award flight, so loss was just the $35 cancellation fee. I'm happy to cop the $35 VA fee but it'd be nice if the hotel was flexible will wait and see but end of the day it was $250 total and given people around the world had surgeries canceled, missed weddings, couldn't get home I'd say my impact is rather small in the big picture.

So now you can expect a Customer Satisfaction survey titled "How did we do?"
Gate 25 was chaos last night, staff did the best they could to make announcements and actually had to run off to find someone from BAC to manually update the flight displays. I didn't get one but they did hand out food vouchers which is actually more then the policy of if it's outside our control you're on your own.

Jetstar was originally offering a free move up to 7 days forward or a refund to a voucher, they've just changed that in the last hour to up to 14 days forward.

Surprised it wasn't more.. note closing price is still way up on 52-wk low.

And don't mention the P/E ratio

Well maybe only the Mac, Android and Linux users were able to trade, I imagine the majority of those trading are using Windows so if their laptops are still showing blue screen of death weren't able to dump their shares.

They should be offering refund to original payment method, not voucher. That’s a frustration I have with our carriers.
They probably will if asked on the phone or online chat but since OP will only get a $29 cash refund or a $49 voucher if it was me I'd prefer a replacement flight. Perhaps a BNE-SYD-AVV/MEL since the direct flights are sold out.

No refund?
I haven't asked specifically but as noted above by aikman, I'd end up with a $20 voucher and a $29 cash refund, or a $49 voucher. Given the $20 voucher was free and I essentially paid $29, I'd actually rather a flight.

I've discounted this weekend, but am thinking of using it in 2 weeks time. Currently the self service portal is showing two options for today both via Sydney one with an overnight.Screenshot 2024-07-20 at 10.52.35 AM.png
