NZ has always been good value for DSC's I think DPS is another good one. One thing I'd check is the metal the Per-AKL flight is on. From Syd/Mel, its just the same as domestic J. My flight to Japan has international J so i get lay flat beds, which is good. For NZ I've never cared that much about the product in J. Also if I'm going to go out of my way to get a few SC's I tend to vary where I go and make a trip out of it, but that is just me, then again I love visiting NZ, never been there longer than a week though!I'm trying to get a AKL-PER stretched out and ending in SYD but is not cooperating. Incidentally, AKL-PER return is only around 1600 and also 320 SCs.
Yep. I booked multiple work flights yesterday and it was error messages galore. Painful. For the last 2 days i’ve been trying to book a multi city with a domestic leg and an international one, and just get error messages. This is regardless of the international destination entered. Still works fine for the domestic multi city. I just gave up and booked each leg separately. Not sure if system is overloaded or qantas has worked out what we are all up to during the DSC promotion?
Expecting DSCs to not be offered this year, I booked business sale flights to Auckland for October. A good deal, but the sale is still on at the prices I booked.
Now, given the DSC offer, can I cancel those tickets and simply rebook the same flights on the same day, thereby gaining double status credits? I have read the earlier posts and apologies but it is not clear to me...
As the tickets on sale today are the same price as those already booked, I am assuming that I would need to bank a voucher for the $1300 or so already spent and use that on later flights, and then just buy new tickets?
Would this work for DSCs? Or is there some algorithm in the Qantas systems that would recognise the original booking and cancel any DSCs?
These are the conditions on the flight I have booked:
Cancellation (including no show)
Before and after departure:
No refund
This fare may be used as a credit towards the payment of any higher fare from the point of origin, provided the new fare conditions are met. A reissue fee of A$175 per person applies. If the new fare is cancelled, the original cancellation fee will apply. This credit must be used within 12 months of the original tickets date of issue.
0-1400 SC in two weekends and just $3690.00 dollars Have Gvs in reserve for work flights so may even make P1 this year for around 9k all up.
Credit vouchers can only be used towards a fare of equal or higher value. Qantas Gift Vouchers and Customer Care Vouchers can be used towards eligible fares, surcharges and taxes. A new voucher will be issued for any unused credit (of more than $2).
To the best of my knowledge and my experience QF flight vouchers do not have a retained value, they are one hit wonders. You have a couple of options available to get DSC and not waste money. Send me a PM with the details.Have MEL-HND-MEL flights in PE booked last Oct for travel in May. I'm looking at cancelling and creating a voucher, then rebooking for DSC. I believe re-using this voucher on the old PNR won't earn DSCs straight up, but wondering if there's a loophole in the voucher T&Cs here (in bold).
Am wondering if I book a cheap domestic one way fare on the old PNR (which doesn't earn DSCs), and the remaining credit is generated into a new voucher before 2359 on the 25th, if this new voucher would earn DSCs?? Or is the bold text only referring to GVs and cust care vouchers, and not credit vouchers (given the reference to credit vouchers only valid for fares of equal or higher value)??

Yes. I have done this previously with success. Took the cancellation penalty and was happy to do so.Expecting DSCs to not be offered this year, I booked business sale flights to Auckland for October. A good deal, but the sale is still on at the prices I booked.

Make sure you get a NEW booking reference with this. Experience has shown the date of creation of a PNR is very intertwined with the awarding of DSC.Thanks! Have just done so, paying $200 penalty for 240 extra status credits next year - a good deal

Either can happen; it depend how the cancelation is made and and the rebooking occurs.Does the voucher from a flight cancellation generate its own independent PNR or is the voucher PNR inherited from the cancelled flight?
Yes, all good in theory. At least you got what you were after. However, it all depends on the competency of the CSO who processes this. Could result in tears before bedtime. Thanks serfty, I checked with the Qantas platinum people and they said it would generate a new PNR - and yes, I have different booking number on the new flights
