I was disconcerted by a printed page taped inside the crockery drawer at a high end resort last weekend. There was a list of the crockery and cutlery in the self-contained apartment. Evidently there were two 'desert' spoons. Am I supposed to be outside digging in the sand? What a shocker!

My way of remembering which is which if you don't know: "dessert" has more sugar.

And I have seen many a chest of draws! Another pet hate.

Was looking at a PDF menu from Rydges Canberra at the weekend - it was a Christmas menu - unfortunately whoever proofed it had a few problems - Ham with caaramelised pineapple, Brussel Sprouts w/ pnacetta and mini pavolva - I kid you not!

It is really, really not good enough for a reputable business to publish. No one checks???

I thought "Beach Passport" might have been some sort of euphemistic insult. My suspicions were impeccably backed up by the all-knowing ChatGPT -:

A 'beach passport' might refer to someone who, on the surface, seems easygoing and approachable, someone who fits into social situations effortlessly, much like how a beach is a universally popular and easily accessible destination. However, the term hints that this person might not offer much beyond that initial charm. They may be perceived as lacking depth or complexity, much like a beach that is enjoyed for its surface-level appeal—beautiful, but not necessarily offering anything more substantial underneath. It can also suggest that this person’s presence is temporary or fleeting, much like a brief visit to the shore, where they come and go without leaving a lasting impact.

So now you know that SLS are just considering you to be a charmer who lacks any substance. ;)
