I certainly wouldn't want one of my staff representing my organization in that way.

They may well be a (very junior) employee and not know the appropriate boundaries for commenting on social media, but I certainly don't think they have been planted here by VA.

(And by the way, I don't work for VA either!)

I agree - I doubt these said members are planted here by VA - no one could be that stupid!

I think your junior employee suggestion could be closer to the money - the spammy type of posts, blind support and promoting every minor hiccup of the opposition... Well now I think of it that fits the profile of no News reporters too ;)

There have been a few PM's floating around regarding this and an official Virgin rep is checking it out!

PS didnt ever think you were an employee.

I'm beginning to suspect that a couple of members on here may be Virgin plants/moles!

Posts are getting very 'spammy', repetitive and just plain one sided.

If you read all of my posts you will see how often I praise QF for their advantages...First lounges to die for, the best IFE, design that is just divine, the quality and emphasis on details, in flight food in economy, and how much better their frequent flyer program is. There is no point arguing - Qantas is a much older and hence more developed airline which is able to offer its passengers and frequent flyers much more at this stage. I would personally recommend Q frequent flyers to not swap at this stage, but fly with them now and then over the next year by allocating a portion of your business to VA. This not only allows Qantas frequent flyers to keep an eye on what the competition offers, but also encourages competition amongst the two big players. We don't want a monopoly.

I just want to stick up for the little guy, who I think is making some pretty good decisions and moving in a great direction. Once again I assure you I am not an employee of any airline, for that matter I am not even in the travel/hospitality industry - closest I have been to that is working at a movie theatre lol.

Ps. I was just looking, and my previous post was criticising VA's lack of professionalism when it comes to lounge facility maintenance and how they should 'take a leaf' out of QF's book.

Can I think the same about the one sided, repetitive support for qantas as well?

Lol - I should have put a ;) in as I meant it as tongue in cheek!

I've got positive things to say about both DJ and QF, and there are things both can do better as well. But I do think that DJ is genuinely trying to improve and I like the changes I've seen so far and am looking forward to seeing the final product. I also will still fly QF even though I fly DJ as well now, and I guess I'm lucky that with work travel I should be able to manage to keep at least Gold with both and maybe even Platinum.

Haven't seen any of those around for a while given all the recent changes and the much moaning associated with that.

You are fairly balanced medhead, I wouldn't say you were that one sided.... repetitive sometimes maybe ;)

Noob whatever made you think that you were one of those being referred to unless you think your posts are just that... spammy and blind one siders....? ;):p:p

Because Paul and other members have said that I am one sided before. I do favor Virgin, but only because I like their product - But I love Qantas as well, especially any aspect designed by Marc Newson! I like to stick up for Virgin because Qantas seam to have such a blind one sided following on here, hence why I think it is a bit rich to say this is a Virgin only affair.

If only I had one of the dire cheap plastic amenity boxes to send you! I'm rather thankful for QF introducing me to Marc Newson, Peter Morrissey and Fred....er I mean Neil Perry. It has allowed me to avoid anything they make or design outside of my travel! :p:)

Just an update, now his son has been offloaded for doing... nothing, his son has nothing to do with this what so ever but Qantas just wants to push industrial action further. In my opinion, this is disgusting behaviour Qantas. But i guess they will learn the hard way.

Anger as pilot and son left off flight from Hong Kong

Jack not everything in the papers can be taken as the gospel truth. There are always at least 2 sides to every story. We have just one.

IMO I think that it's great there are some fanatical VAA fans on here now, balances out against all the QF "moles" & "has-beens".

 I'd hoped never to see that again. This is a family site, children really do not need to see that particular horror!!!! :):p:p

True. But there are some who take anything from management as gospel truth.

.... yet on the other hand carry on about how dangerous foreign pilots are....
The vast majority of pilots in the world are "foreign" as are aircraft maintainance people. That fact surprises some people who believe every union media release
Just an update, now his son has been offloaded for doing
If true, did he have PAID ticket ?

Jack, was the son offloaded or did he get off on his own accord? The article does not make a definitive answer on this either way does it.

Do we have the full entire story? Up until then, I'd be very skeptical with info coming from either sides

How am i suppose to know? I just posted an update, but i would say he would have got like a discount because his dad is a pilot, he could have or not, but seen if he didn't pay, he did nothing, and got offloaded. Which i think is a childish act by Qantas, and the Unions will now be on fire over this which they all ready are.

Jack, if you don't know the answer, then how can you suggest that what happened was disgusting? I still think that the union could have twisted the son getting off voluntarily into being offloaded. When you have issues such as the current pay dispute, I believe that both sides will twist facts to not entirely tell the truth. I think in a story like this, that skepticism is valid, as I don't think the entire story will ever come to light.

The son was involuntarily offloaded.

Agreed. Different airlines, different strengths, weaknesses (not to mention oppurtunities and threats, just to finish it off!), with different strategies going forward.
Agree, and isn't the real point that there is a choice, and that the enhancements both airlines have/will make just make us think a little harder about it?
Yes, I fly Virgin more often than I fly QF - but that is based on what suits my situation.
I have experienced tired planes/staff and exceptional service from both, and think in no way should anyone discount QF. They have a solid base, and don't imagine that they will continue to let things slide. Equally, Virgin is doing some great things, but it is really only the start and they have a lot of ground to cover. Bottom line, we each have our own opinions, and preferences - but improvements and competition can only be positive, so let's just enjoy the ride.
