For those who haven't seen one...

IMO I think that it's great there are some fanatical VAA fans on here now, balances out against all the QF "moles" & "has-beens".

In their defence, have you seen what some other 'full' service airlines dish up as J amenities kits ? [if you get anything at all?].

Frankly I don't give two hoots what it is packaged in, I'm far more interested in what's inside... not to mention I carry everything I need onboard anyway.

I once wore QF J PJs on CX J in protest (as they don't give you any), and lucky I did - the FA dropped my hot meal all over me! - she did nearly cried and was very apologetic - I had already forgiven her as they make them use those stupid tongs to place the china plates...

Jack, if you don't know the answer, then how can you suggest that what happened was disgusting? I still think that the union could have twisted the son getting off voluntarily into being offloaded. When you have issues such as the current pay dispute, I believe that both sides will twist facts to not entirely tell the truth. I think in a story like this, that skepticism is valid, as I don't think the entire story will ever come to light.

Considering the pilot was the secretary of the Australian and International Pilots Association, I would say there is a good chance that this action was quite deliberate on behalf of the union and they have got the result they want. Ie more bad press, littered with half thruths, which just furthers their cause in the eyes of the public. Bit similar to Abbott and his anti carbon tax campaign.

The vast majority of pilots in the world are "foreign" as are aircraft maintainance people. That fact surprises some people who believe every union media release

So are you trying to tell me that people other than Australian's can safely fly and maintain aircraft. That really is a shock. I kinda thought every airline employed Australian pilots and all airline maintenance was done in Aus.

How am i suppose to know? I just posted an update, but i would say he would have got like a discount because his dad is a pilot, he could have or not, but seen if he didn't pay, he did nothing, and got offloaded. Which i think is a childish act by Qantas, and the Unions will now be on fire over this which they all ready are.

If he was traveling on staff travel then there are no guarantees you're traveling until you've pushed back. For all we know, he was on a staff ticket and QF received a fare paying pax at the last minute.

That would have been awfully convenient....

I know you love Virgin, but it isn't for everyone! Personally I still prefer QF to Virgin overall, and I will still take a QF 767 over a new Virgin 737.
And is one of the reasons QF will continue to have my business.

The 767 are a great aircraft - I can't wait to see the new 737 design from boeing which is said to be twin aisled....

I think it will do VA good investing in domestic wide bodies (A330s), soon they will have another two and they will be brand new!

The 737 replacement hasn't even entered serious design discussions, so don't see how you can say it is said to be twin isled. Sure that is one of the options that the industry is making rumors about, but so too are single isle. In other words it is all industry talk, speculation and wishful thinking, so until a serious conversation is started by Boeing it is way too early to tell.

I was only speculating, calm down....
