Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Myrna just try again at the time Serfty is suggesting. The chance of getting the same person answering would be very close to zero and Mrmyrna might get what he wants.

Thanks, cove! Will try again at times suggested by serfty.

I also have a confirmed ex LAX FASA.

You had been told a familiar fib: not possible to do this / that...

Thanks, legroom, zig and JMFK. Will try again tomorrow (being Monday in Australia).

Agent we spoke to this afternoon in London said someone will phone us back - as a request has been put through to clarify the situation. But, I think it is better if we phone again instead of waiting?

Another question: Is it better to phone the special tel number for ASA, or phone the Plat tel number?

It seems the "special" ASA number just gets through to where you would get anyway. It also seems that you have a better chance of success with the platinum desk

90% of my ASA was booked through the Premium line

THANKS, everyone, for all the replies - much appreciated your help.

Will phone on Tuesday (Australian times) on the Plat line. We phoned this afternoon (being Sunday in London) on this line. So, will try the same on Tuesday. Hope the seats are still there!

I want a FASA/JASA/even a WASA for HKG-MEL/SYD/BNE before 1 May, preferably a Wed or Thu departure. Is there a way to setup a mass alert system for this? Happy to pay cash separately for the domestic connection to MEL if need be.

Update: Thanks again everyone for your help - really appreciated all your replies! :p We phoned Plat number tonight (being Tuesday morning in Sydney) and got 2 helpful staff who did the bookings - John did the pricing and confirmed OK to originate outside Australia, and calculate the taxes, and Vicky completed the itineraries and payments. It has to be done as 2 bookings. I will post details of these in the successful thread later.

However, I have a further question. I have got the e-tickets, but how do I know that it is an Any Seat Award and not just a Classic Award booking? Could not find this info anywhere on the e-tickets. Where do I look to make sure the correct award bookings were made. Thanks!

The points deduction on your activity statement will show it as an Any Seat Award deduction.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

HELP, please!

We researched the flights, found seat, phoned QF plat number trying to book ASA flights for hubby to go back to Australia at the end of this year. Hubby was asked for his pin number for his QFF number, which he provided. Then waiting 20 mins for a quote, the agent came back to say that the system would not allow for booking ASA originated outside of Australia! Flights were LAX to SYD then MEL to LHR. The agent then added that the flights could be booked as classic. Should we ask Red Roo for help on this?

This was previously a known issue but I've made such a booking myself so it's definitely possible. Ask to speak to a supervisor.

Myrna it is sounding like you have it in the bag for hubby.
Sure it was a bit convoluted and changing the dates would be tricky as I have experienced with Mrscove so I tell her we are going with our booking dates as changes are too hard.

Thanks, cove. Yes, I did it for hubby last night. As you know, he does not read the forums so I have had to do all the hard work and tell him. He will be home to visit his mother at Christmas so she will be happy, and it is a convenient time for him to take leave as his company closes down over Christmas. Would you know that he had 288K QFF in his account, and this trip cost this exact number of points, plus taxes of course. But he will earn new QFF this year. Hope to see you & Mrs cove back in London this year. :)

I hope to do 3 goes to London and 3 or 4 goes to Los Angeles now that I have the flights between the two places settled.
We have improved our choices but I really enjoyed the overnighter on BA.
The tall ships regatta is beckoning and of course Mrscove loves London.
Looking after the olds keeps us travelling in shorter cycles so we do more flights for shorter away times.
Lovely to hear that QF 288k points did the trick. Your hubby is wise to leave you to handle AFF ideas and bookings on QF.

Am currently booking one ( well attempting to book 2 actually )
Agent "not many people do it this way anymore i think 2 people in 6 months have . i will need to look it up"

I confused him completely when i said i was happy for mine to be a JASA booking and the other a classic as i wanted the credits and my wife didnt need them so we have gone with 2 JASA tyoes to not confuse him

What has confused the system apparently is that Qantaslink dont have j! so it needs to be 3 bookings between here and townsville

Anyway currently after much on hold he has gone off to work on it on his own (with help) and i am waiting a phone call

( yes he is on the premium desk)

45 mins so far

Addit
to be fair was done in less than an hour even though on of the J seats seems to have disappeared in that time!
Didnt cost me more than an arm and half a leg!
