Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

My anniversary date is the end of this month, and I suspect it will be quite a few months before I earn 1200 SCs, so I don't think I will be in the running.

I'm WP but thinking about it what benefits does that really give over and above GOLD for the extra expense involved ??

I saw it as an extra year of lounge access, first lounge access when departing SYD/MEL on OW and more points on flights in general. Helps I have 6 months to go on my FF year so thats 18mths of WP...

I'm WP to December but don;t think I will get there this year

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I got to Gold on the weekend but WP I think is some way off.

My anniversary is 31 March so the clock is about to start again. If only SC's ran for 12 months from date earned it might be a better deal.

In hindsight, I may have been better off booking my upcoming flight as a Classic and not JASA as it would have saved me some points and $$ and just booked Mrs B as a JASA. The SC's I'm going to earn wont do much for me really.

Has anybody rang and booked for 2 pax, 1 x JASA and 1x Classic on the same flight(s)?

Question is, whether the phone booking fee would be charged for the Classic that could be booked online?

Wow!!! Just phoned the premium line (1300 366 587) and spoke to Erica. She says she has been there 15 years. Wanted to know why I would be using Confidential Staff only terminology (Right on Q 7740). Said she would have to report it. She also told me there is no U fare bucket (4 or 5 times). I feel pretty shaky from the exercise. Needless to say I have not made a successful booking. Gotta say, I'm getting a bit tired of being slapped around by Qantas Staff. Flew Virgin this week, and nothing but kindness and courtesy at all stages.

yes it's horrible to be TOLD that something doesn't exist when you know full well that it does. Best to hang up and try again. When I recently had two similar experiences I PMed redroo who said that if this happens you should always ask to speak to the supervisor. Trouble was that once I did and that didn't help.

Yes. I will do this. I am getting sick of the poor attitude. Erica gave me a pretty hard time about using 'confidential' terminology. Last time I spoke to someone to try and book a (non direct) mASA I was told they were no longer possible and a memo had just gone around to all the Qantas staff to make sure they all knew about it. Imagine my surprise to discover that other flyers were able to get the flights I wanted as non-direct mASA's. (Sarcasm)

I don't understand the variation in potential responses - it's almost like it's a game of roulette!?! I just can't see how (especially on the end of the premium number) there can be **that many** operators such that the variation in response is due to lack of communication in/between team members - are there really hundreds/thousands of call center operators???

I know this is a thread about successful xASA bookings but this still seems relevant - the "hang up and try again" option just seems so random...

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

@ALH: You mentioned that you dialed the premium (Plat) number. Are you positive that it has been routed to a premium agent? (mentions "Qantas Premium" when they pick up the phone). In my few data points that I have, I have always had poor service (regarding MASAs) when the agent who picked up does not mention "Qantas Premium" (usually when I dial after hours or in the weekends), even though I dialed the premium number. When it is picked up by premium desk though I have always had good service. I'm interested to know if this is a broader trend or if I only have too few data points.

I dialled the number we have been given (1300 366 587) and keyed in my WP Number. I cannot remember if Erica answered as a Premium Agent, but I 'think' she may have. She pointed out several times that she had been there 15 years and I'm almost certain she mentioned she had seniority or an important position.

I'm only trying to get to my father's funeral in comfort FFS!

If anyone should be getting reported it should be Erica for her appalling lack of customer service skills and product knowledge even after 15 years in the job

Mr ALH is now talking to Betty using exactly the same wording I used. Looking like it's going to be a success story. Maybe Erica is just a misogynist

I just booked BNE-TSV Return,JASA. total time on phone 9 minutes 35 seconds (including on hold) , spoke with Betty (really nice and helpful) 48,000 points + co-payment $290.00 .
I also didnt call Premium line for this
