Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Haven't called yet, thought I'd ask ya'll what you make of this first, or whether any one has seen this before.
Booked a JASA back in December for MEL-ADL-ASP-SYD-MEL. 48K points deducted and tickets issued on December 23.
Checked on my activity statement today and I see that today (17/1) an additional 72K points have been deducted with the above booking reference and then 48K points have been credited.
So it looks like QF has changed their mind on the amount of points needed? Without telling me....any advice here, doesn't seem right and doesnt make the JASA good value IMHO.

I would be lodging a complaint immediately. You have been charged more than you were quoted and agreed to which is not on - and probably illegal.

Well, not always. For the very best JASAs, it IS in fact only slightly more in dollar terms. And of course these are the ones that we (including you!) seek out.
Take for example the ADL-BNE-TSV return JASA. (In my opinion one of the best around) Classic award is 72000 points + $156.82 including CC fee. Because of the quirks in the pricing of JASAs, this can be had as a JASA for 48000 points + $$$. But to compare apples with apples, if you price this JASA at 72000 points, the co-payment comes down to $161.87 including CC fee. I know this because I booked one last year before I became aware that you could get these at less points cost than classics.
So, unless you want to quibble about the definition of the word "slightly", my point stands.

Some are better than others...
I have some more xASA tickets to change, which I will endeavour to do this week once I confirm exactly what I want to do with them. I will post my progress next week.

Just spoke with Sara from Melbourne who was very experienced with the MASA, as was I
...Booked BNE-SIN-BNE for December 25th and returning January 4th in J for both myself and Mrs Pyffii...took 3 minutes...Just brilliant...Well done Qantas...Oh and 240K points and $1572.88 in fees

My flight to SCL is a classic award as well because I also wanted J and the only availability was on the LAN flight. However SCL - SYD showed very limited J availability and for my preferred dates there was only Z class, so I thought I would at least make sure I earned some SC for it. Will put in an upgrade request and keep my fingers crossed.

All fixed by Cassandra in two minutes flat. Bonus SCs added at the same time. She did say that their IT systems were having a fair bit of trouble with the double SC points tracking. Getting better but they aren't quite on top of it yet.

Spoke to Holly in MEL earlier this evening.
Wanted to book 2 x ADL - SYD - ADL but could only find ADL - SYD - MEL - ADL. Holly initially said this could not be done as you have to fly direct. However she did say she would give it a go and see what happens. And it worked for some extra points cost (96,000 - 112,000) and extra $$ (~$590 - $711). We want to see our grand daughter so we paid up.
When I asked to confirm no booking fee Holly asked why is that? I replied that these bookings can't be made on line. Yes, your right was the reply.
Overall I thought the process was easy. Less than 60 seconds on hold, the whole thing done in 8 or 9 minutes.
If there was one negative, Holly didn't sound cheery. Maybe it's been a long day with some PITA's for the poor girl.

In effect you've booked 3 JASAs:
ADL-SYD 24000 points
SYD-MEL 16000 points
MEL-ADL 16000 points
Total co-payment sounds about right for that.
In the good old days you could have booked that itinerary on line (per person) for 32000 points and about the same co-payment. Progress, I guess.

Booked the above JASA on Christmas eve. Appeared under "My Bookings", but had not ticketed by New Year's eve. Called to check, only to be told booking was "Rejected" under booking comments. On hold 5 min while CSR checked with supervisor, & assured would be ticketed within next 2 hours or so.
Fast forward to Sun 12/1/14 & still had not ticketed. Spoke to the wonderful Jill on a Sun morning. Put me on hold while she spoke to a supervisor. Booking "rejection" comment removed by supervisor, but unable to proceed with ticketing as Awards Section only open Mon - Fri. Jill mentioned she would again be on the 7am shift the following morning, & had printed out a copy of my booking, which she would follow up personally. Asked whether I would like to contacted by phone to confirm ticketing. I happily replied wasn't necessary, as I'd just check my email.
0915HR Mon morning & I receive a voicemail message from Jill informing me my original booking (pre-31/12/13) was likely corrupted in some manner, & a new booking reference (post-31/12/13) was required to be created to allow ticketing to proceed...(Yes, you can all see where this is heading...)
Red Roo, could I please nominate Jill for exemplary customer service recognition? Compared with all my previous calls, Jill was absolutely outstanding!!
Luckily, I've kept a record of my original booking reference pre-31/12/13 with respect to DSC. I foresee a call being required to explain the change in booking reference in order for DSC to hopefully credit appropriately.
