Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

So if I can see CNS-BNE-LAX-JFK in J using the Classic Award engine, but the LAX-JFK sector is on AA, does this mean I wouldn't be able to book the whole itinerary as a JASA?

If I booked just the CNS-BNE-LAX on QF as a JASA, are there any ways of getting from LAX-JFK in J or F at bargain prices?

What about CNS-SYD and connect to QF107 SYD-LAX-JFK?

There aren't any Classic Awards in J (or F) on this route showing available for the periods I'm searching :(. I can, however, find one on the route through BNE, and was thinking I could book it as an ASA to get the points and SCs - it's just that all the LAX-JFK sectors are showing on AA, and nothing available on QF107 in J.

As P1, I could always just try get an award seat released anyway, but trying to work out how to get some good value as an ASA. (Last year, they wouldn't let me book my released F Award seat to LHR as an ASA, even though I'd heard on the forum that some people have been lucky enough to have that happen).

And yeah, I get that AA F is not International F, though I understand on the Transcon services they are marginally better than the F on the 757 ;) It's just that when I looked up AA.com and VX, prices are > $2K one way from LAX to JFK in J and F, and I don't want to pay for that, but want to see if there's ways to avoid Y after 14 hours in J across the Pacific.

I had a meeting today with the QF Regional GM and the ongoing ASA debate was one of our discussion points. He is pleased to see that premium QFF'ers (Plat & Plat 1) are generally getting through to the Premium Desk and given those staff have generally had more contact with this process, are quicker at completion the transaction and getting it right the first time.

He was a little disappointed that some QF CS staff don't know the process, or questioning us as to how we know the "internal process sheet" (RoQ 7740). He'll pass on my feedback that we were instructed by the QF Social Media team to use that terminology.

I didn't have any success trying to get a FASA released either. Can you book the BNE-LAX and onwards on AA as two separate awards? Maybe set up an alert. In EF for QF107.
I believe it's a bit of a bargain to go DEN-LAX-JFK in F but I can't see how you could no-show for the first leg

Based only on what I have read on the AA website and other media outlets, AA have started to refresh their transcontinental USA product to a "full" three class configuration, and they are promoting it as the best in the market.

It it would definitely be a step up from the product they were offering in 2012 when I last took a transcontinental USA flight.

Link no to media release on the AA website below.

Was just about to post here how nice my booking was, quick, easy, the lady in the call centre really pleasant... when the dreaded "Award Assistance Fee" showed up on my account  I called and the new agent agreed to refund it by Monday next week after consulting her documents for ages. Yea, they were both friendly and all but really- I will never understand how someone who's doing their job day in and day out can't have the capacity to just do those things properly. It simply amazes me. They even get you to call a special number- what for, if not for routing you to someone who knows their stuff?

Tried to book tonight via Premium Desk.
Per - Adl QF668 4 Mar
Adl - Per QF587 9 Mar

Should be around 72,000 points plus taxes right?

Quoted 120,000 ish points plus payment. That seemed quite excessive, am I missing something?

I have done a few of these, have a look at the spreadsheet... Going to book some more soon, never paid more than 72,000 points return...! plus taxes...

I tried booking a MASA the other day. There was plenty of U class available but the operator said they couldn't reduce it down to the minimum points plus taxes. Did I just get a dodgy operator or have things changed? I didn't really need the SCs so I didn't push the issue and just booked it as a classic award.

the more xASA's booked the better, sadly you got a dodgy operator, and I wish you pushed on (even hung up and called again) for the xASA which makes it easier for the next person

No First LAX-JFK unless you can manage to get an AA flight but it wont be real first LOL

It will certainly be domestic First Class, and better if you get that on a coast to coast 777.

I presume you want to book JASA for the SC and points, right? So, why not book a JASA to LAX and then book a separate LAX to JFK (or another airport closely) on AA in YUP? They are quite reasonable and with some imaginative routing can net you a whole pile of SCs.

How long does an International JASA usually take to ticket? I rang Sunday afternoon and booked the JASA (one way, BNE-LAX). I've got a Booking Reference and it appears in My Bookings. I can view it, select seats etc.

However, the points haven't come off my balance yet, and I haven't received an itinerary via email yet. I didn't want to ring up just yet in case it does normally take some time to ticket, so was wondering what others usually experience? (This is my first xASA since they went offline, and first international xASA booking).

How far out is the travel? I was told it would take a while because my travel was 4 months out from Booking.

There ended up being a few issues with ticketing which required the intervention of Red Roo to figure out.

If it hasn't been ticketed in the next week or so I'd call again and follow up with them...

August 2014. So okay... I'll wait another couple days before I ring up. My main concern was whether there might be something wrong with the credit card payment for the taxes/fees etc. and would hate for that to cause the booking to be auto-cancelled.
