Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Time I called up again to request the wonderful ASA(U) ;)

Been more than a month since I booked one and I dont want them to think I've lost interest in booking them...!

I just cancelled one actually as we changed our minds about a trip. It was domestic, so full refund of points and $$$, although I had to correct the CSR when she wanted to charge me a 5000 point cancellation fee.

I have updated the spreadsheet. Thanks for everyone for keeping the discussion here.

Sorry it has been a while since I last updated it. At least the Dec/Jan DSC offer is over so the amount of info has decreased. ;)

So there you have it...my first ASA(U) booked. Rang back earlier this afternoon, cleared my throat, politely and confidently asked for an any seat award in uniform class (said as if I was a seasoned pro), initially got told that "sorry, it's impossible to do what you're asking for".....sensed her voice waivering slightly, mentioned her colleague's earlier callback, the RoQ 7740...."oh wait now, clickety clickety, ah ok, I think we can try something here...."

12 mins later, 60,0000 points, $500 payment (inc. cc charge), and a J top deck from SIN-SYD, J class upto BNE. Was assured I'll get the points and SCs....feel like part of the gang now...

Yes, well, you've just described my concerns with the process. The "I've-been-working-here-20-years-and-know-how-to-do-my-job-and-don't-need-you-to-tell-me-an-internal-RoQ-7740-policy-number" agent at the Premium desk assured me they knew how to book this properly. Fingers-crossed it all goes swimmingly. Might drop a PM to Red Roo.
This response concerns me too. Please do send me a private message with your booking details kevrosmith.

Even if 'all goes swimmingly", this attitude is not acceptable - Premium Desk or otherwise.

Thanks to Red Roo, who was able to investigate the matter and provide a resolution for me. The booking has now been ticketed, have received my itinerary, have the magic "ANY SEAT AWARD" description in my activity seat :D, though am now 96,000 points poorer :(.

Without being able to, or necessarily wanting to, provide all the details, it was reported to me that "a human error was identified that was preventing it from being ticketed". Of course, I am hopeful that this was mere coincidence in my situation, an errant occurrence could you say, given the stated experience and knowledge of the agent assisting me with this booking. :D (Or am I too forgiving )

Rather than agents hacking on participants in forums such as these, perhaps they need to realise that we are real people and real customers, with real money and points which are vital to the economy of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, instead of the nuisances which some seem to regard us.

As always, many thanks to Red Roo for participation in the forum and for assistance in resolving this for me.

Just received a double SC offer so it is phone call time now that we are back from Los Angeles.

Trying to work out who qualified for this cove, are you within the 3 month re qualifying period on your membership...?

In our case it is October 31 - her "Year" was aligned with mine when I attained PG fer her in 2007. In 2011 she attained SG in her own right but has not earned an SC since (currently comped PS). She is currently VA SG due to family pooling (oh, and the 4 minimum flights).

Yes shintaro10x and I get 4 days into my new year.
Better try some AFL footy after working somewhere.

You ain't out of the woods yet! I asked for an 'any seat award in Uniform class' and ended up with a Classic and JASA $ cost. Took 3 calls before flying to get it recognised as an ASA and then 1 after travel to have SC and points applied, and yet another to have DSC added.

You need to check your activity statement to see that it says 'Any Seat Award' and doesn't mention 'Classic' anywhere.Something like:

(pls forgive the formatting - I need a tutorial)

Phew! Checked my activity statement and I have a similar entry to yours. Looking good.
