Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

This is probably heresy around here but I can't be bothered spending my remaining points on a MASA. When I get my last lot of cc points in July I'll spend the lot on a classic award to somewhere sunny, then move over to Asia Miles (and get cheaper cc's).

I know what you mean. I ended up spending 180,000 on a Classic yesterday, and it just felt *wrong*. But it was nice to be able to do it online :-)

I've got 142,000 points left any suggestions for a last minute MASA booking?

wouldn't mind an F one-way somewhere?

Really? 48,000 is the Classic rate for both routes. How do you get lower than the Classic rate?

As has been posted quite frequently, mASAs are quite often at a lower point rate as a standard classic as the points calculation method is different. You cannot rely on the website for the points required. Check the spreadsheet for the most accurate figures.

Sure, I understood that to be the case for indirect routings, but not for direct routings such as BNE-MEL-BNE. When I have asked for minimum points on that route it has always been 48,000. When I booked a BNE-ADL-BNE JASA online (back in the good old days) the minimum was also 48,000.

Ok, helps if I read the question a bit better. You are right, I would have thought 48k was the minimum for these. Unless they were booked online with PPP in which case 5k is the minimum. Hmmm.

From the spreadsheet thread:

Have you rung and spoken to QF? If you try to price it online it will come out dearer.

Well got it done..thanks Timjohns/ Jessica and others.

Jun14 / Jul 14 / J / KTA-PER-MEL-BNE-MEL-PER-KTA/ 72,000 /606.84+CC/ DIDN'T ASK/ 400

Great service on the platline...op stated she won't be missing the MASA's lol It was a great run while it lasted:)

Not sure if this is exactly the right thread to ask in but it seems close enough.

Can anyone tell me if the fare rules for a Domestic JASA allow name changes, please?

Mrs_O is likely to change her surname before we fly a couple of bookings and the agent I asked about it when booking the last one wasn't that clear. Doing a dummy domestic business booking seems to indicate that name changes are allowed, but I would appreciate confirmation.

TIA.

It's often the case for situation like honeymoons and even goes to passports.

Standard is to book under the original name (as shown in the passport if applicable) and when travelling bring along certified proof of name change (e.g. Wedding Certificate).

To be honest, it should not be much of an issue domestically - unless you wish it to be. ;)

Could be just me but the spreadsheet isn't working :( (have tried Chrome and IE)

I have 48,000 pts to burn on a return trip and based out of MEL, I want to travel first or second weekend in October. Kind of want to travel to places I haven't been to before such at CBR or TSV but happy with any trip maximasing status credit earn against value for money, suggestions will be greatly appreciated while the spreadsheet is down. :) :)

Second option is to travel out of ADL as I have a cheap Jet* (+bundle) return fare to use and kind of want to get rid of it.

Agree serfty.

Marital name changes are usually fine. It is name changes when you are transferring the ticket which can often trigger fees and/or a reprice.

Here is the link.

I have had it open today doing some updates. I don't know if that would have affected it.

Shouldn't matter for a domestic JASA, probably no requirement to show ID. And if they do want something it would be pretty easy to bring along an old driver's licence or passport.

The only problem I can see is if she has updated her QFF details, and then flies under the old name then there may be problems with points and SCs. If that is the case all bookings will have to be amended. Which QF will do for no charge in these circumstances; Mrs asg29e had about 15 bookings changed for this reason about a year ago.

Excellent, thanks all. I figured domestic would be fine as normally only frequent flyer card is needed and it is always mine that is shown. She hasn't updated her frequent flyer account yet so I will make sure that doesn't happen until after she has changed her name and then we can call up QFF and change the account and bookings all in one go hopefully.

How were you able to book these cheap flights.? I have booked a JASA SYD - JFK a few days ago but need to add the CNS to SYD leg as I live in Cairns. Is there a cheaper option than just booking a standard flight via the QF website?

Not sure what the technical name is but tag (?) flights such as BNE-SYD are basically free when it's part of larger booking - revenue or award. It cost me $66.34 to tag BNE-SYD to our SYD-LHR F/MASA

Not sure about CNS-SYD. Call QFF and get a quote to amend the SYD-JFK booking....come back and post the outcome.

I booked one for a colleague a few days ago. Simple domestic point to point. The points deduction has shown on their statement as a Classic Award, I have called up 4 times since and been assured that it is definitely an ASA. Last operator said the fare code to me was UBPASR and it was definitely an ASA?
I'm getting a little bit confused what should I/colleague do?

Booked my last JASA today with the Premium desk (she has done alot today!!!):( I now have 3 "just incase" Syd-Bne-Tsv JASA intineraries in case needed for Plat requalification. Will probably cancel 1 or 2 of them. On a sadder noite, it was confirmed to me that all the Melbourne based QF staff at the Premium desk are going to made redundant with the move to Tasmania. None of the Melbourne based stuff will be relocating to Tasmania, and the Melb staff have an average of 15 years experience with QF :(

That's pretty sad :(
