Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

2 x June 17 SYD-LHR QF1 FASA booked yesterday morning (havent been to Europe in 15+ years, so why not) just need to get home again

Have the exact same problem. Need to find a way to get home from LHR. CX have pretty good Y+ fares out of LAX, problem is I'm in LHR and not LAX lol.

Lets see the next Qantas enhancement now unfold before our eyes... Yes it was fun while it lasted, and all my Qantas frequent flyer points have now devalued significantly...

So where's everybody heading now...? What to do now with the cash I used to spend on MASA's...? In the new "Enhanced" world of Qantas its classic awards or upgrades only for this little black duck... So my cash position has seemed to be "enhanced"

....... At least I can start using my Citi Signature & Amex Business Maximiser Credit Card now and start accumulating in a different program

Indeed.
Almost all of my bookings (apart from one where I opted for the Visa Debit charge) went to my non-Qantas earning Amex.

Much less point building points without the MASA.

It was a fun ride. Certainly made me open up my wallet.

Thanks ketsuzei, What little I contributed... but it is a community and by all chipping in and discussing, we have all learnt a lot.

For mine, the thanks go to markis10, who set up the original thread when it was bookable online. That opened up my account balance and has helped me retain Gold for the past 3 years.

Now I won't know what to do in March 2016 when I drop to Silver, as I can't see myself being able to hold down both VA Plat and QF Gold - bit without some assistance from QF (DSC )

After paying back my M-i-L her points, it's upgrades for me.

I will be ok with Classic J redemptions on QF domestic runs. We are each LTG with QF and WP until that runs out. Classic J runs are cheaper so really I don't know why Any Seat got so mucked up by QF. Yes QF messed it up by themselves with their IT failings.
I don't have any wish to buy the equivalent in status runs with Virgin as starting that from zero SCs would take too long so if all else fails I will just maintain enough Velocity points as a back up for J points flights.
I am only talking about domestic travel with these thoughts.

Better you look up the actual fare class to be sure. It should be "UBPASROW" Fare Basis to be a true MASA...

Last time I'm sure mine was marked 'any seat award'

Yep that's a good sign to see and I'd expect both points and credits to post accordingly

I got an Alex an hour or so earlier - nice bloke.

He has a horror story about transferring from Hobart to Melbourne earlier this year and buying an apartment. Very professional, helpful and positive fellow.....terrible set of circumstances

Well I only got into all this late in the piece. Booked a status run a while back SYD-MEL-HBA-MEL-SYD that keeps me at PS until Jan 2016. The second and last JASA was done for the fun of it last week, booked at the then limits of 6-7 June 2015.

But like cove, I do a few Classic bookings in J as well, as long as I have my 4 flights up.

It has been great fun though to be an interested spectator as the MASA saga has unfolded, first with the withdrawal story, initially scotched by RedRoo, only to become reality a little later on. And JT should get a special mention for the spreadsheet work on the other thread.

perhaps after a few days things will settle down and I'll be more open to harvest QFF points for the occasional upgrade or classic, but at the moment meh... can't be bothered

I ended up booking one before jumping on a long haul which landed after midnight AEST. Absolutely don't need SC if anything they're more valuable for the ~ to me..

Have only been interested in internationals, was going to book a couple on the QF routes I hadn't flown yet e.g. MNL, however ended up deciding against booking where QF have an inferior product, timing etc. and I wouldn't fly them normally. So ended with just one ex-JNB, which I'll be flying to on CX. Was ticketed by the time I landed. Had the cheaper than classic rate as the agent did a through fare avoiding the point-to-point distance calculation.

Will keep the remaining QF points for redemptions on the few QF partners without fuel surcharges and maybe the occasional alliance award.

Oh and my longhaul was MH F, just before simplification day.. no more crediting of them to QF, now I can earn many more AA or BA points!

Just called. Some sort of hold up and after 10 mins on hold it was sorted, email/e-ticket now received. Like the look of the new Booking Information email.
