Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

My next, and all subsequent and final, JASAs are in my new membership year so thankfully a delay in posting should not affect me. With any luck they will have debugged their scripts by then too ;).

Unfortunately, Qantas is extremely efficient at back dating to the flight date.

Update: The CSA rang me back to say that they agreed the flights met the conditions of an ASA and there should have been automatically credited, however they think that the 1 July changes torpedoed the normal crediting of these flights. They have a list of affected members and are running scripts on weekends to try and correct the issues, but they can't give me a categorical timeframe for the fix. She has my FF details logged in for a check of my account in a couple of weeks and will be back in touch. Not much else I can do. Lucky I'm not hanging for either the points or SC's just yet...

Well I left it for 10 days - sure enough they have been posted:

23 JUL 14 POINTS ADJUSTMENT
QF 636 BUSINESS 11JUL14 MELBOURNE/BRISBANE - - - 2,925 60
23 JUL 14 POINTS ADJUSTMENT
QF 664 BUSINESS 04JUL14 ADELAIDE/BRISBANE - - - 2,925

I left mine for more than 10 days to no avail. A quick call and they were all posted within 5 minutes.

I called and got it posted in one day.

While I already had my new Plat card, the flight took me to 1205 SC, all to be wiped tomorrow

A FASA this month posted no SC so I called Qantas who eventually explained that there is no system in place at the moment to award SC post 1st July, even if MASA flights are entitled to SC. I have a few more booked over the next few months and Qantas advised me to call after each flight so that SC can be adjusted manually.

Thanks, that is useful feedback. At least I know now to call straight away rather than waiting for nothing to happen.

Nice to see that we were both given the same explanation and eventual outcome - though my CSA wanted the system to pick up the error rather than doing a manual intervention.

Almost glad I have none left

Annoying, but good to know that we should call right away. I've only got one return mASA left...

Well, I don't think that's true. There seems to be a sweep every weekend, which fixes things up. My MASA flights have originally posted as 0SCs/0FF points, and then there's an adjusting entry created on the weekend following.

Can someone clarify for me which SC and points earn table will apply to MASA bookings I made in June 2014 and that I will fly on after 1/7/14.

On a separate note, I have made quite a few MASA's and have dates out to June 2015 from the original bookings, but have started changing fly dates to suit my desired flight times.

Latest was a FASA SYD/LHR moved into July 2015. No Problems making the change as long as a Classic was available and no fees charged either!

YMMV on this - with some I had been successful with others, no.

Any booking made after March 2014 for travel after June 2014 will be at the new earn rates.

Any booking made before March 28th (IIRC) 2014 should be at the old earn rates.

Sorry Serfty "YMMV" ??...
Your Mileage May Vary - it means that actual results can differ.

In this case I have been able to move some flights, but not others.

YMMV - What does YMMV stand for?

... So new earn rates are for SC and pointas as a WP?
Yip! Post March 2014 (June) booking for post June (July) travel == new rates.

Note that it really for bookings made after March 28th for post June 2014 travel for new rates.

I should probably know the answer to this, but if I change an mASA booking to a different flight, I'll still earn the SC + points? i.e. changing my booking won't take me from an ASA to a Classic award?

I'm thinking of changing from QF107 to QF11 and seeing whether I can get a seat in First.

My experience is QF1 to QF1 but I believe its the departure city and arrival city for the booking sector that counts, QF 11/QF107 shouldnt matter, but a QF should be able to confirm this when you change

My understanding is that your booking will still earn SC's and points if a change is made - so long as you make it under the rules:

1. Flights can't go beyond the maximum time for the ticket (355 days from original ticketing date)
2. You need to be able to locate the F availability on the flights you want
3. You may need to pay for any change fees

Hi All,
I will be attempting my first ever ASA booking and need some assistance. I have read many pages on this post, and want to make sure I get the points / pay correct before I ring.

The flight will be for 2 people (wife & I), Brisbane to London return. We could go Brisbane to Paris or Rome if that makes any difference. Also happy to leave from Sydney if that is easier / better.

What combination of points / pay should I be quoted. I have 250K in points. Thanks.
