Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

I have an FASA which originally was SYD to LHR & by chance my friend that we are travelling with, found out we could add the PER to SYD leg at no extra cost. So I rang & organised this but was left with a credit for the domestic leg PER to SYD that I had booked prior to finding out we could add that leg to our SYD - LHR booking.
Our issue is we fly out on the 10th April & the credit had to be used by 1st May, I rang & was advised the 1st May deadline could be extended if I was booking an international flight so we are thinking of doing a short trip to Bali using the credit, when we fly into SYD on our way home to Perth & then changing the date of our SYD -PER flight.
1. Has anyone heard of being able to extend the credit voucher date if booking an international flight?
2. Will I be able to change the date of our SYD - PER trip without any penalties & still get SC's & Points? From what I'm reading from previous posts this is possible

Sorry in advance if this sounds dumb but if I have a JASA from Adl-Syd-Hkg, would I still be able to add Mel-Adl at the start of the flight for $37 or will it be disallowed since I already have the Adl-Syd sector?

Aeolus, I don't know about right now but this sort of stuff I used to do all the time. For example I had ADL-SYD-AKL and made it ADL-BNE-SYD-AKL w/ a stopover in BNE. It might cost something, but not that much. IME the points covered the city pair cost(s) and varied depending how it was entered (i.e. by sector or end to end), the cash component covered the taxes and fees for each sector. Sometimes this is a lot, sometimes nothing. After the HK lounge run last year when we were on F on QF128 I had added SYD-ADL. They quoted me wrong and said free but it ended up being about $110. I actually complained and got refunded.

I assumed this technique was a well kept secret but I used to do this to nearly all my JASA bookings, being ADL based was perfect since you always had to go xSYD/MEL so could often book via both on the same day. Particularly good was starting with ADL-xSYD-SIN or whatever which would only be less points (50 vs. 60k). Does anyone know if you can still get a JASA to rebook into F this way?

Unfortunately I didn't go too crazy not being AU based so only have one left, JNB-xSYD-ADL. Fortunately it also has no cancel/change fees attached. I have already pushed this back and last time was told verbally I could extend it beyond the 12 months from original booking. I'm less in need of QF status than ever before so in many ways I'm apathetic but certainly might make it SYD-ADL change to xPER.

Since my post a few weeks ago about adding domestic sectors to a MASA its seems we are all onto a winner !

No reason that the SC's won't post.

Not sure about the U/X terminology, but if your question is does there need to be the same class as originally booked on the ASA, then I can attest that the answer is Yes. If there is no such availability, then the price quoted for the add on is the same as a standard domestic J booking. At least in my very recent experience. Disappointing - but not unexpected.

The April fools joke of JASAs returning got me excited for a minute. We will have a slippery slide ahead in about a years time but at least we will be Lifetime Gold and we can still use points for most of our flying.

My original booking was a FASA. The J add on was the same as - or a little more than - a standard J booking for the relevant leg.
Surprisingly, I didn't take it up!

They couldn't do it. I didn't speak to the premium desk because it was after hours.
They said because it was a re-route (ie LHR-SYD becomes LHR-ADL), and the fact that it was originally issued in June 2014 means it's too old?

My notes indicate that in June 2014 I booked a JASA LHR-MEL-SYD. Then in August had it changed to a FASA (new ticket issued). About a month later it was revalidated for a date and time change (still FASA, same ticket number). So in theory I would have 12 months from August to "extend" the ticket?
If I'm paying a bit extra and a new ticket is issued (ie. today), it should be able to bypass the 12 month "revalidation" rule, right?

Is there any specific wording I should be using when I ring up next time?

Given my own failure, I don't think I can help you at all.
Hopefully, someone who has recently reported multiple successes will have some wise words for you.

I'd call BS on that. You need an old school operator who knows how they work, however I have seen that it works the best within 24 hours of the previous arrival.

I had a JASA LHR-MEL-SYD and just turned it into a JASA LHR-MEL-SYD-BNE, for about $62 per person (for 2).

Also while at it, I added a BNE-SYD to the start of a SYD-DXB JASA and it actually resulted in a small refund (!) due to not paying SYD departure taxes as it is considered a transit using the <24hr rule.

So an extra 80SCs for about $30 net. Not a bad haul!

Then, just like yesterday, suggested I should book a separate domestic leg if I wanted to travel on a separate day (!!). Asked a supervisor who conceded it was an ASA and gave the add-on flight details.

So I changed a SYD-xMEL-LHR FASA to add a MEL-SYD JASA two months prior for ~$165.
Also had the above LHR-xMEL-SYD FASA changed to add a SYD-xMEL-ADL JASA a few months later for ~$275. So not as cheap as others have quoted, but they are stopovers and slightly cheaper than booking the Y equivalent fares separately. These were originally JASAs that were "upgraded" or "up fared" to FASAs so I don't know if that factors in to the price change. If only I knew about adding those domestic sectors beforehand - "wasted" two FASAs that have already been taken!!!

The e-tickets haven't arrived in my inbox yet, but from what I gather they were kinda complicated to do - over 30 mins in call time. So until the ticket arrives I guess there is some uncertainty, but the bookings have been updated in MMB and I have selected seats and whatnot (not that it makes a difference). I recently had an F classic award take over a week to ticket... but two domestic bookings made today ticketed within 15 mins.

Still waiting on my LHR-MEL-SYD-BNE Ticket also, but it will be issued in LHR probably so may need to be manually ticketed.

After my recent F/JASA + an upcoming JASA I'm going to be 60SC shy of WP (1,400SC) .... will call and make the necassary arrangements and add something to BNE-SYD-SIN-BNE-?(60SC)? to drag me over the line :mrgreen:
