Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Agent muttered in passing, " I don't think these are going to be around much longer".

That seems to have been a phrase reported by a fair few here. Maybe the call centre staff have taken it on their own accord to say that because they don't like doing it, or they are monitored on a time taken per call average, or they feel that people aren't entitled to it. The fact that the official QF reps have constantly reassured us that there are no plans to remove the ASAs in classic buckets speaks volumes.

Remember, the staff will be able to get away with whatever they want - if the management are unaware of it and it cannot be proven that they are doing the wrong thing. So they will push it as much as possible. Same with the "oh I've just come back from holiday"/incompetency excuse.

It's been said a million times but the following are the better value ones:

cbr-syd-hba, mel-syd-asp, tsv-bne-drw, syd-bne-tsv, adl-bne-tsv. Obviously places like OOL only have a flight to Sydney so roues like OOL-ADL, OOL-MEL, OOL-PER will be allowed via sydney

How about CBR-MEL-BNE and vv? Does anybody know if this is an available indirect ASA route?

Looking to book my first MASA.
Need to visit a friend in Cairns so:
OOL-SYD-BNE-CNS return looks possible?
I can see it available as a Classic Award so all I have to do is call up?

That one might price as two awards ool-syd and syd-cnd. It used to be possible online with a large copay but I dont believe it is available now for the 24k minimum

I probably don't understand how it works but I can see it as a Classic Award for 72,000 points and $212.13.

You should try the cbr-syd-hba run

Thanks Aussie_flyer. CBR-SYD-HBA is one I have done previously and have been looking at again. However, looking at the J classic award availability, it doesn't look all that easy to get in January 2014. That's why CBR-MEL-BNE would have been so nice, as an alternative. I'll keep looking for a suitable CBR-SYD-HBA, though.

CBR-SYD-ADL can be easier availability-wise. More points but less dollars than CBR-SYD-HBA.

Im afraid AFF members have snapped up almost every U class seat there was on SYD-HBA in January already!

Hmm I attempted to book myself a JASA and my partner a classic award today for identical flights.

They are both showing at U class.

On my ref I get: QANTAS & JETSTAR ANY SEAT AWARD 1 ADT REF (my ref)

On her ref I get:CLASSIC AWARD POINTS DEDUCTION 1 PASSENGER REF (her ref)

Is that correct that given we are both U class bookings, that mine was successfully booked as a JASA?

Looks like you got what you wanted.
