I am thinking my situation was out of the ordinary - I had changed dates several times, maybe something with that caused a level of PNR change that prevented an auto- update.

I have three more to go over the next four months - all booked over the telephone last May/June.

I think you're on the money with this one. Untouched bookings posted flawlessly IME, changed bookings I had to chase. I'd say their sweep is looking for codes in the booking that get lost when the staff manually change them.

For those who still have these, don't forget the trick of adding a domestic sector on the end for less than $100 in J... (At a future date even...) I believe this can still be done as changes use the fares available at the time of original booking. A good way to pick up a few extra SCs.

SYD-BNE = $27.64

Made the change May last year, just noticed it hasn't ticketed - flight in April. Called QFF this week, they pushed it thru ($ charge as per above) with absolute assurances that the amendment / changed e tickets will have no negative impact on our F/J ASA status/point haul.

Well I payed $180 (include $150 change fee) to add BNE-SYD but that's fair enough as I did it after MASA was phased out and it still worked out to be much cheaper then buying J ticket at $750.

So, cancelling FASA ticket round 2.
Called premium service (didn't want to bother P1 SST over the weekend) to ask again about name changes, date changes and cancellations. Was told that name changes are not permitted but I can change the date (up to one year from date of booking) or cancel without any penalty. This information matches the one I got when initially booked the ticket but just in case I asked to add a remark that I agree to cancel ONLY if there is NO penalty whatsoever.
Now let's wait and see what happens...

Thought this option was a great play to add further time to create SC, even pushing into your next SC year with very cheap holiday thrown in.

Added a SYD/PER in J onto a return JASA from NRT to SYD with a future date within 12 months of the original ticketing date.

The only cost was the taxes $37!!

And I was told I'd earn SC and points on the SYD/PER at the current table rate!! (flexible business)

Great SC value 5800 points and 90 SC's for $37

As there was no change fee (eg $150/$300) for a NRT SYD return sector

Now it got me thinking

Why not plan some J travel one way to add to other JASA/FASA's that I have to use by June 30 to extend for cheap tickets some Aussie travel.

I can add the ongoing Aussie leg to say Broome/Perth or anywhere for that matter for a holiday for basically no points plus taxes and any change fee ($nil-$300) based upon the originating sector on my return JASA/FASA to Sydney.

I can book the Aussie sector to travel before the original 12 month date of original ticket to fly on any date.

I can then change that sector for upto a further 12 months.

Great way to keep WP going for another year at nominal cost

Where do you get the further 12 months from? The ticket is revalidated not reissued, hence the original ticketing date applies.

Adding on the other sectors is a good idea however, but note the time limits.

Was advised by booking agent when adding sector that I had 12 months after the new sector travelling date to change the flight, hence the extension of that sector going twelve months from when its flight date was

That's a new one, they must be reissuing the ticket with the fares applicable at the time of the original ticket. They can only do this within 12 months of the original date.

We've got WP x 2 sorted with our current F/JASAs ... so won't be needing to test this theory.

As a data point, I have flown my last mASAs this week. The initial update to my account listed 0 SC, with an adjustment a couple of days later for the correct amount.

I will have to go back and study the earlier posts with fresh eyes, as I didn't think you could change the "leftover" FASAs/JASAs without losing the benefits.

Obviously, i haven't been paying sufficient attention. A mortal sin!

I'm not sure about the further 12 months change space but if it works then great.

I told her to leave it as I couldn't believe it!, any advise would be helpful.

Perhaps you need an in depth discussion with Infinity, before you try again! Or even subcontract the phone call?
The response you received is more in line with what I had thought the situation might be, and the reason I've carefully left my remaining FASAs untouched.

What was the full route? I'm not sure how you would do JASAs between Hong Kong and the UK.

In any case, the quoted costs for SYD-HKG are perhaps consistent with what you would get when there's no U (award) availability, which doesn't seem surprising for four seats less than three months from now.

Sounds like it was a pretty good booking in the first place!
