Is that a question or a statement? I actually can't find out and trust me the reaction I have is truly scary on the ground so don't risk anything at 38000 feet
Personally I have never been a fan of fish eggs - would much rather have lobster at 38,000ft.

I just avoid all seafood just in case of cross contamination but I agree with you

OK, so most of my flights are J whether personal or business. I stepped onto the plane the other day and thought - here we go again. I remember when I was in my 20's and wondered if I would ever fly paid J. I've done it a lot. Now, it's just like flying Y.

Does anyone else feel the same?

Kind of... quite often it's nothing special at all; just a seat closer to the front with a bit more room in it. That said, I ain't going 'back there' again to level set!

Like Y in terms of routine but not the comfort or filthy lucre required to get it!!
You remember your 20’s🧐!

Can confirm, as someone who is in their 20s and has paid for long-haul J - it's hard to go back to the back. Do I? Of course. Somewhat grudgingly? Yes. Have I spoilt myself way too soon? Probably.

If you can afford it go for it. There was also a similar thread posted on this site around 2016/17 asking if anyone actually paid for F. At the time I responded 'yes' as EK F MEL-SIN-MEL was often cheaper than QF J MEL-SIN-MEL.
Way way too soon, Bru! :)
Not sure if can agree with this as I have been 'fat, dumb and happy' flying international J&F since 1977. Fast forward to 2007 MrsM and I now have a child that has to come with us. Fast forward again to 2024, said child is hanging on to 'Mum and Dad' will pay.

My 7yo was asking his friend why he didn't Goto the lounge after security as we always go to the lounge till it's time to board 😜

Several years ago just before we were heading off to Europe for 4 weeks, one of our friends asked a 4yo NoName Jnr what he was most looking forward to on his holiday. She was expecting him to respond with something like Disneyland so didn’t really know what to say when the answer was “turning my seat into a bed on the plane”. 😂

Yes. I so relate to Qantas treating flyers to/from Thailand with disdain.
I am recently retired and am now travelling extensively. I’m just a lowly bronze who saved my QFF points hard for decades. Finally did a rtw J with my wife and looking at the next. I also now utilise other schemes because there is such a world of difference between Y and J to us. We shudder at a 6 hour flight in Y but actually look forward to same in J. I’ll never pay for a J because on my budget I’d rather suffer and then spend the saved funds when I get there. But we are constantly searching for good points deals to slip into J on our longer flights. A recent Y flight from IST to MCT almost broke me though. It was hell.

At least the benefit of having retired from work is that you can be much more flexible in your travels. That makes for easily finding award flights. Assuming your wife is also retired, that is

First medium -long haul Y (11h) this year that was jammed full 🫠i miss having space. I wouldn't mind this as much if i had a spare seat next to me.

Granted it didn't help that i had a headache the whole time.

I had attended a computer show in London in December ‘95 and MrsTMA flew into LHR after the show so we could spend Xmas in uk and Italy, and since I had been co sponsored for my J flight, I treated her to her first J flight (KLM out of SYD). On meeting her out of immigration, her first words were not “nice to see you”, but “I’m never flying cattle class again.” And we never have. Then EK upgraded us from J to F for SYD CHC on a trip for my birthday in 2009. That ruined us further and have never flown long hall “steerage”, that is J, since then.
