Not all - the Citibank Debit Visa doesn't appear to, nor does the 28° mastercard. See my example upthread.

They all do make a margin, that's what the Forex business is all about...just some charge a bit more than others!

With the 28° (nee Wizard Clear), the margins seem to be pretty small, sometime even negative.

Perhaps the make their profit from interest our something else?

See here: 28° [Wizard] Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas

I am an avid 28 Degrees user when OS and I have no doubt that GE Money are in the CC business to make a buck...I assume a lot of their CC customers pay off the card in full each month as I do...their interest charges are a bit higher than the average CC.

With the Card being issued with no annual fee ,IMO the main way they would make their moolah would be though the ex rate marigin plus merchant fees and sure interest on outstanding balances.

Yes I agree that the 28 D ex rate is normally pretty good but I am sure that GE are in the black on exchange rate charges ,I suppose the proof will be in the pudding, lets see what happens when markis10 does his simultaneous transactions next week!

Yes we've been quite impressed with the 28Degrees card os and the exchange rates seem much better than our Amex plats etc even with the added % surcharges ( on Amex, visa that is).

Activated the new Qantas card, one bit that concerns me though.

Allow up to eight weeks for points earned using Qantas Cash to appear.

So Virgin have there card that costs $1.00 to load, the points from the previous months transactions came through on the 2 September, I activated it on the 2 August.

My ANZ card is up for renewal in 2 months at a cost of $144.00 but the Qantas card is free, with things at work changing; its hard to put through my previous $6,000 to $8,000 a month. I will be lucky to put through $1,000 a month, so the Qantas cash may be an option.

I also got myself a Bankwest card but that is just a debit card which costs $3.99 a month.

Now to remember the pin number. :(

My Gold Qantas Cash card turned up today. No wallet to put it in :(

Off to the Post Office, online verification failed!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That happened to em the first time, then I submitted it again a few seconds later and it accepted it.

Yeah, I tried that but it blocked any further attempts. Funnily enough at the PO they did the same process and it seemed to go through.

Have to wait for an email from Qantas telling me all is good then I can chase up a pin.

Got mine yesterday, although I'm in no rush to activate the QCash aspect of it. I might swap out my old (actually brand new since not long requalified) SG card for this combi card though.

DISREGARD, silly me confused PayPal and Bpay logo somehow! (I new way to good to be true)

Does anybody know the rate they use to change FX.

Cheers

On flight to Perth

Oops .... found it further down the list....not that fantastic....

Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

Arrived today.....can't activate it though, anyone else got this problem?

Mine rocked up today, activated fine when I got home, online ID check successful and retrieving PIN worked first time, although a bit slow and convoluted. QF fix the PIN retrieval and the password system please! From what I can gather at any time I can call up, put in my QFF number and date of birth and get my pin. Not a hard thing to do if someone steals my wallet!

Re: New WP 1 Card QF Cash

My card arrived today & I have to say I'm rather underwhelmed. If I'm reading the material correctly, in terms of points earn I get 0.5 points per dollar for purchases in Oz & 1.0 point for overseas purchases. With my existing Qantas-linked credit cards I get 1 point per dollar on both types of purchase. I also note that there is no points earn for loading foreign currency onto the card to later withdraw as cash while overseas. Under the old arrangement with Travelex I did get points for this, at 1.0 point per dollar. I also liked the Travelex card because you get a back-up card to take with you.

So this whiz bang new card gives me the same or less points earn, & I lose the points for loading currency & the convenience of a back-up card.

Am I missing something?

Re: New Card QF Cash

Got my card yesterday, I like the design more than the SG card I received a month ago. I'm going to activate it as it seems to be competitve to my Platnium Amex when I'm travelling, will do a comparison when I'm in the US next month.

Re: New Card QF Cash

Having now reloaded the card with both methods, I can say the wait time on BPAY was the same each time, and when the money hits your account you get an email. I was starting to worry this morning as there was no sign of money I sent on Friday night (after 6pm, followed by weekend, 3 business days lands us here) but I got the email a short time later.

So it's slow to get cash on it, but seems to be easy to spend it afterwards ;) :p

Re: New Card QF Cash

Tried to activate mine gave up in total frustration, anther bloody enhancement NO THANKS QANTAS, why oh why do you just not think these things out, yeah I'm annoyed yet again. Think I'll just cut it up and throw in the bin.
