Heads up about program changes

What I would have liked to have seen (yes because it gives me something) was a LTP level set. Something that QFF could give their most loyal long term members. There is WP1 for the current loyal QFF earning lots of SC's at the moment, but nothing for the long term WP or SG after LTG.

.

So I have read more (and a lot more to go by the looks of it), LTP would certainly help me stay

That is OK. Much better than anything Virgin has to offer. And I could not possibly earn that many points on Virgin anyway.

I am hoping that will be someone's trip of a lifetime where I burn some of the QFF points I have been hoarding along with IHG and HHonors points. Now to only find the time to do it.

Yes you can. You can use CC churning plus manufactured spending to earn just as many points.

Butt in seat way of earning miles is too hard. Don't want to actually fly to earn all my points so I can fly some more!

Not sure if it has been covered, it seems it will be based on regions now? So does that mean if there are two sectors flown, SC and points will not be calculated on actual sectors flown, but rather the 'region' pairs? Eg Canberra to Gold Coast, would be seen as a 'short flight' (10 SC)- and only one set of SC and points credited, as opposed to 20 SC (for CBR-SYD-OOL)? Or Gold Coast to Auckland - would fall under 'East Coast Australia to New Zealand' - and only earn 20 SC, currently 30 SC for routing in Discount Economy OOL-SYD-AKL

Wow, I'm kinda glad I moved all my flights from QF when they started enhancing PER a while back. Now I need to figure out if I'll funnel all OW into AY or start with AA.

But QF really, do you think we are stupid. Simplified FF Programme? It reminds me of when you 'Simplified' the luggage allowances not that long ago. Perhaps next time there is a union strike, you can say that you've closed QF for 'cleaning and maintenance' much like the J lounges over Christmas.

Red Roo Please pass on to the relevant manager that they look like complete clowns when the information around the big announcement is WRONG. Adelaide to Perth is a short flight, less than 750 miles. Really is it? Or is it a mid flight? Same same Adelaide to Brisbane. Which is it?

Qantas must be hard up if they can't even do basic proof reading. I guess that is why they come across as running a circus.

I doubt DSC is going anywhere.

Oh so DSC aren't a shortcut to status then? Pull the other one it plays jingle bells.

Depends on your class of travel. For us mrsdrron makes WP with QFF but I credit to AA and only get a little more than halfway to EXP on Aadvantage.
However if you are a road warrior and do a return flight every week then those 100 segments get you EXP.

Can't see any of these QF changes impacting road warriors that do 100 segments a year!

I wonder how many of the newly minted AA flyers are 100+ a year segment flyers?

That's a bit of a stretch, too. Most likely outcome is bookings after March 28 (maybe... even that's unclear) will earn, but under the new system.

thank heavens that someone else (ie you) are reading this the way I am. I wonder how long it took to produce all the "information"

It may be too late already according to the "MORE" tab:
[h=3]More changes to take effect in July 2014[/h] A change to selected Any Seat Award bookings
From 1 July 2014, we're removing the ability to make an Any Seat Award booking on Qantas flights using Classic Award[SUP]#[/SUP] booking classes (X, Z, U or P). Existing bookings will not be affected by this change.
Existing bookings beyond July 2014
For members with a booking made prior to 27 March 2014 in a fare class impacted by these changes for travel on or after 1 July 2014, we will automatically credit your account within a month of flying with the Qantas Points that applied when you made your booking.

I still can't see where this is resolved. Given that the new tables have no SCs for U, X etc fares, then it seems a JASA booked before tomorrow would not attract points if option 1 above applies. But RedRoo has said that option 2 applies. So where are we?

Qantas. I hate your spin. It leaves me sick in the mouth.
Introduce a SIMPLER, FAIRER PROGRAM? What part of the table for QF flights and / or partners is SIMPLER?
I'm spending such a long time trying to understand your tiered table for partners. Qantas has the MOST COMPLICATED program in the world now.

HKG - PER: 100 SCs?
HKG - SYD: 60 SCs?

Platinum is going to require more P class USA criss crossing so a nightmare for some!

251 (miles) is the number to remember !

SC per mile ratio seems to be sweetest

251 (20%)

751 (12%)

1501 (8%)

2501 (6%)

3501 (5%)

5001 (4.2%)

etc.....

basically the Status credit earning rates are the same as Virgin Australia, but the qualification requirement is 40% higher and the requalification requirement is 50% higher than Virgin Australia.

For some reason I think they might be wrong about this little claim:

Qantas said:
You'll be pleased to know that the number of Status credits^ you need to reach or keep Silver, Gold, Platinum or Platinum One status is not changing.

Thanks for making decisions easier Qantas.

a booking made prior to 27 March 2014

At the moment I think there's information simultaneously pointing to March 26, March 27, and March 28 as the last possible days.

And then introduce the vagaries as to when it's ticketed... for example, I made a booking on March 27 that hasn't ticketed yet.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

It's simply too hard to try to figure out how this will affect me - I do most of my flying in Y - mostly on QF, but it's normally not booked during sales, and its often booked at short notice so I'm not usually on the cheap tickets, often its flexi-savers as the Red-e deals have sold out. Frankly I have no idea what letter in the alphabet soup I end up flying - and I don't even know how to find out. I think I'm just going to see how it pans out in the wash.

Edit - I forgot to add that whoever in Qantas thinks that this is simpler has got to be joking.

so why book a MASA after tomorrow. Even though they are still available?

I'm a 100+ segment a year flyer, previously with QF. I'll be looking at heading to AA as a result of this.

There are earning tables from 1/7 in the T&Cs page.X,Z and U are mentioned and below it does say SCs earnt on any eligible fare.
Unfortunately Red Roo's comment was just a Yes and then MASA's could be booked and I wanted to be sure that SCs were included.I am now satisfied.
So in June probably a few JASA's to be booked to extend mrsdrron's WP out to the end of 2016.

Nothing that I've seen says that an ASA won't still earn points and SCs. But after whatever date they actually mean between March 26 and March 28, the points and SCs will accrue under the new peasant system.
