Can anyone tell me which is better to choose the complimentary gold membership with, Hilton or IHG? I am already a member with both of them but not sure which one to go for.

Hilton, IHG Gold can be had with one stay using the promo codes. Apart from that, Hilton offer much better benefits to their gold members.

I am surprised our Virgin AFF rep hasn't replied to the thread.

I opted-in for Hilton Diamond on the 20-something'th of Feb, and received e-mail confirmation from Hilton in late March. However, my online HHonors status remained stubbornly stuck on Gold. After contacting both the VFF rep on this forum and messaging VFF on Facebook, my online HHonors status FINALLY ticked over to Diamond this week. Still no sign of the card, though........

I've never received a card. You don't need it, unless you want the bling in your wallet

Belated congrats. Don't worry about the card. Nice to have but usually not necessary( like government ID)

Nothing to do with points, it's a gold after one stay code, and it works.

You can also put it into Passbook via the HHonors app.

thanks. not sure what's happening as i just put in promo code 1039 and it says I'm already registered for it but no upgrade to gold after recent stay at Crowne. will see what happens after tomorrow saty at melb airport Holiday Inn. thanks again Markis10 and serfty

You cannot use any codes at Hilton from IHG, you can however use the codes to get you status at IHG, leaving Hilton as the option for VA status holders.

Makes sense. I couldn't understand how the IHG code was referenced in the HH forum but yes makes perfect sense to opt into one and code credit the other.

Ordered my gold today. Will see how long it takes to come through..

I ordered this on the 24th April and sent an email off last night to HH as I want to make some bookings but hadnt heard yet. Got a reply this morning saying that my account had been upgraded to gold. This is nice seeing i didnt have the account and requested the Opt in as a new member.
Just wonder how long it would have taken for them to tell me or to receive notification if i didnt ask.
