So what are the things we can do with our HH points apart from the usual room bookings....can I transfer them to virgin or anything like that....I'm a newbie re hotel programs...

Yes you can. Hilton HHonors Points | Earning & Using Points

From 10000 HH points upwards in multiples of 10000. (10k gives 1500 VFF points)

I don't really see the value in doing it though with VA. There were some lurks when points and fixed miles were available as a myway option, but that's no more (ie you could earn 2000 VS miles for a cheap $100 stay and convert them back to 3000 HH points).

Received an email today saying that my existing Hilton gold status, earnt from stays, is to drop to blue on April 1 this year. I can now pull the trigger on the Hilton Gold status from my Velocity gold. Should I wait until after April 1 before putting in a request? Will that give me status until April 2016, or longer?

I recall reading that as long as you STAY Virgin Platinum the Hotel membership levels says too?

Never heard such a thing in all my participation on AFF.. happy to be proven wrong though!

I'm VA SG so in theory I'd be HH Gold.. but I'm not so that pretty much dispels that myth to me.

Sadly no, the Hilton Diamond is a one off benefit which must be retained in the usual way. Keeping VA Platinum status isn't any use at all.

Yes - make sure you drop below Gold before requesting - that should give you nearly two years at that level.

Anyone have experience with dropping to Silver on VA but still having the HH Gold benefit available? I might not requal Gold this year but wondering if it the opt-in will stay available...

Once the one-off Hilton status has processed it is good till it expires (generally Mar 31) up to almost two years from initial processing date

I'm Gold with an EXP of 03/2015... I'm virgin Plat now... should I use my Diamond comp now or wait until March? I don't have any/many likely stays in the next month or two.

It won't make any difference. Whenever you do it you will get Diamond until end March 2017

In the status match days, I was comped to Gold and used up my Hilton match. I have since dropped to red and am working my way up the ranks. When I hit platinum, will I be able to take advantage of this again or not?

In the early days this seemed to be the case - however there are reports up thread this is no longer the case .... YMMV ...

My partner was gold and we opted in for the Hilton match but as soon as she dropped to silver the car hire offers were no longer available.
