OK well just to update you i contacted HH who had no record of anything at all on my profile membership and said they can't do anything to help. So looks like it's back to VA.

Uh oh ... wonder if I'll get the same response. Very frustrating for you when you've wait the required length of time only to find out that it looks like the request hasn't even gone through in the first place .

That's interesting, given the initial response Ozjuice received - did you call Velocity or email them?

Update - Received an email from HHonours today with my Gold membership finally being processed. I would suggest you follow through with VA directly for them to chase it. Then wait a few days.

I did likewise. Had put the request through back in August and nothing had happened. With a trip to NYC planned early next year and the Hilton hotels being located near where we need to be I finally chased it up early this month. Sorted within 24 hours of calling Velocity.

This was also my experience. Had to be followed up directly with Virgin. Sorted the next day.

Had the same experience, applied for Diamond Elite on March 30th. Just called Virgin and they said they would chase. Fingers crossed for a response tomorrow.

Just an update - I received a reply from Velocity the next day apologising for the delay and saying they'd forwarded everything on to HH to be followed up. I'm very pleased to say an email arrived from HH last night confirming my Gold membership .

My Diamond membership came through by email yesterday - a day after chasing Velocity.

Annoyingly it expires on March 31st (the day I applied) even though the "member since" date is 22nd April.

From the others posts I've read on this thread, I think that's standard i.e. that the Hhonors membership year runs 1st April to 31st March, regardless of when you join?

Almost correct! The HH year is a calendar year, ie 1 Jan-31 Dec. the other 3 months are a bonus ( check your year), so don't complain too loudly, most of us want it to stay!

Ah I see! That explains it, thanks swanning_it . My newly upgraded Gold membership doesn't expire until March 2018, so I'm more than happy with that!

It's good, isn't it? I was quite delighted when I found out (thanks as always to the informative posts on AFF ) that the Gold membership would actually include the rest of this year, all of next year AND the first 3 months of 2018, especially as I don't have a hope in hell of EVER having enough hotel stays to earn Gold status! Great to get all that extra time when many memberships are strictly "by the book" 12 month periods - this will work very nicely indeed for a planned trip to the US next year.

I just get the message " You opted-in to the Gold Elite Tier of the IHG Rewards club in December 2013 and a link to terms and conditions.

Does anyone know if I can change this to Hilton this time? Or if I am stuck with IHG?

Others are more knowledgeable than I about this, however I just did a status match with HHonors using my IHG comp membership and it came through within a couple of days. Diamond Elite to March 2018 - had to stay 1 night at an IHG hotel to get it, bargain.

I think you need to give it a few weeks before that resets. that was my experience when dropping from Platinum to Gold.

Also if you apply after 1 Janurary you should get 2 years, see post #644 for more details. Assuming you don't have hotel stays before then

I opted for HH gold when I reached VA gold a couple of years ago, but never upgraded when I got to WP. This year I have applied for HH diamond but have heard nothing. No rejection, but nothing for about 2 months now. I don't remember it taking so long before. Should I be worried? In a way it has been ok. I have booked all accommodation for my next USA trip in nice hotels at best price of the day. None of them is a Hilton property.
